Who Can Understand What Happens in the Church of the Drowned God (Patreon)

Traveler! A deranged mind whose mind was broken after a long period of captivity by the fishfolk has returned to town. Strange ideas about obscure idols and weird entities crawl in his mind. The self-proclaimed priest became the figurehead of a dubious organization known as the Church of the Drowned God!

Their initiation ritual consists of having prospect members swim down a well shaft where they drown and die. Afterward, the priest revives them and they are born again as active members of the foul cult. The locals demand the authorities do something about the ever-growing cult. Almost a dozen of people never returned to their homes because they could never be revived by the priest. The man claims that not all are worthy to be followers of the Drowned God.

This is a level 8 adventure with a bit of exploration, combat, and interaction with the deranged members of the Church of the Drowned God! Here's a low-def preview of this illustration:

Here's a close-up of the chamber under the church's nave. A spiked pit is meant to deal with those who back out from the drowning process at the last minute.

The grand church of the Drowned God features a 60-foot-deep water shaft with magical currents that causes people to suffocate and drown.
