Denizens of the Tower! In Minsteth Sand, the characters start their adventures in the Scalding Duchy. This is the goblin capital in a large arid region. Through clever engineering, the goblins have made a way of life by the riverbed of the Tourmaline River to treat, fertilize, and farm the land. A splinter variety of desert-adapted goblins inhabits the Barren Dunes, they live off the land and often oppose the agriculture-inclined counterpart. The characters are summoned by the duke.

In Crownhold, the characters learn that an arcane weather cycle is close to an end. It causes the sun to become unbearably hot for short periods most days. The sun's potency is so daunting that it has caused a terrible disaster in some farmlands by the river. The city records indicate that this has happened before. An ancient ritual, the Pact of the Sun, must be performed in four temples among the desert dunes to appease the sun. The duke bestows this responsibility upon the characters. They must make their way to these temples to perform this fabled ritual.

Unique goblin variants and desert creatures are part of this adventure. Statblocks for these new monsters are available for D&D 5e and Shadowdark RPG. You can find them in the regional release of The Scalding Duchy here.
