REMINDER: Now that we've wrapped up Colony in Space, we'll be jumping ahead for a few stories in preparation for watching the 2022 specials for NuWho next month. We'll start with the season 19 stories, Kinda and Earthshock, and then we'll go to the first story of season 25 (the title has been kept secret from me and I've been advised that it should stay that way so please do not spoil it). After wrapping that story up, we'll come back to episode 8x21.

This is yet another really good third Doctor story. That's 8/8 now. I really like the backstory we get of the future Earth because it really paints a vivid picture of what could happen if we don't change things, everything we hear sounds very plausible. It also explains why these humans left Earth and became colonists despite conditions not being ideal for them on this planet. Putting the IMC - the evil corporation - in the middle of this works really well because it's relatable and it shows that greed and the working class being fucked over while being told that it's what best for them will never go away. It's a really effective story, but then they throw the Master into it too. The continuation of the Master's story with the Doctor is as interesting as ever with him now trying to tempt the Doctor with the offer of ruling over the universe with him. The way he does it is so interesting because he tries to appeal to the Doctor's benevolence, he knows the Doctor so well that he knows what he needs he say to get him to pay attention. It's another hint of their past history together, that they used to be friends. The Doctor rejecting his offer by saying "he wants to see the universe, not rule it" is a perfect summation of the Doctor's character, especially during a time where he can't do just that and is in exile. It's also interesting to hear the Master elaborate on why he's so desperate for power and his reasoning makes perfect sense for his character. On top of this, the backstory for the natives and what happened to their society after they created the Doomsday weapon is interesting. The fact that it was poisoning the soil, preventing the crops to grow along with the aforementioned Natives' backstory is a clever way to get across the dangers of WMD and why imperialism is inherently self-destructive.
