Gary Marshall

This season grows on me every time I rewatch it and includes some of my favourite episodes of the show. It does lack for an overall story/big bad arc but I feel that the main storylines of the season were those of the main team themselves and their character growth. Compare the finale versions of each character to their pilot counterparts and they have all developed but still keeping their core characteristics. The finale was more emotional rather than action based, although there was a fair bit of that, and capped off their seasons journey. The containment pod scenes with Fitz & Simmons are excellent and so so well acted by Iain & Lil. When they auditioned for their parts the final round (there were 3 potential Fitz's & Simmons's who all read with one another) was a combination of this scene and the FZZT argument. When Iain & Lil read the scenes, not having met prior to that day, the showrunners were bowled over by their chemistry together and not only cast them but added a revised version of the speech to the finale. This screentest is available on youtube! Loving your reactions and looking forward to season 2!

I never believed that "nothing happens till The Winter Soldier" crap. I saw from the beginning that it was building to something & even the flow chart Coulson had showed that everything they encountered were pieces building to something. We just didn't know the something till near the end
