As a Naley fan I love this episode. Their last scene in this episode gave me hope that they were moving in the right direction when I originally watched this episode when the show was airing. I personally think the pacing of Nathan and Haley attempting to fix their relationship is written well this season compared to how it was last season where the storyline just dragged with no real major progress or discussions. With this season they didn't get back together right after Haley came back from tour but they are slowly having more conversations and trying to workout their issues. So with us only being 7 episodes into this season we've gone from Nathan and Haley not communicating (like her not knowing Nathan was back home from High Flyers) to some clear communicating (like this episode is easily the best communication we've seen so far with them this season) Also a completely different topic but Mel (Mouth's Grandpa) probably looked familiar to you because the actor Tom Bosley played Howard Cunningham on Happy Days (I'm sure you've seen a rerun/reruns of the show at some point).

I don't think Naley was suppose to have major progress or have any helpful discussions last season. That's what they were going for, the deterioration of a marriage. They started off last season happily married and they ended last season on the verge of an annulment. We start this season with them at rock bottom, opposite of where they were at the beginning of last yr. Now divorce is in play. They can either give up or fight for their marriage. It's been clear since the beginning that Haley has chosen to fight. She seems to know exactly what she wants now. No matter who else she is, she wants to be married. She's smart enough and mature enough to know what she has to do, but Nathan has to be open to it. In this episode, we saw the beginnings of that; Haley doing what she needed to do and Nathan being receptive. We also see a little more clearly where Nathan's head is at. I loved their conversations on both the balcony and the roof. "The roots are still there, it just takes time." 😭 Plus, Nathan's reference to the bracelet. "Don't say I never gave you anything." The purple flower was such a Nathan thing to do. His gestures are really so meaningful. Anyway, they really exposed the flaws in their marriage, with number 1 being their inability to communicate, which led to lying and poor choices. Good or bad they really do need to have the tough conversations for them to have any hope. They are just so young, they need that solid foundation. They need to build it block by block together. It was great to see Nathan taking that first step! Opening up to her again is huge for him and it shows he's willing. I agree, with Morgan and Britany, this was the first episode in a long time that they've really been open with one another. I too love the way they are being written and the pace they are going with them. It seems very mature.

I really liked this episode. It's only epi 7, but this felt like a turning point (the next stage/what happens next) for some of the storylines introduced at the beginning of the season. Nathan and Haley, Lucas and Brooke and Peyton and her mom. There is definitely a connection between Naley and Brucas this season. Whether they are parallels or foils we shall see, but at the moment they are mirroring each other. Besides the more obv progress with Naley we also saw one with Brucas. Along with Nathan's moment of clarity we also got one with Brooke. She openly admitted that Lucas was the one for her. There was also all that stuff with Lucas and Rachel talking about destiny and "the one," which could have easily been a discussion about Naley. There were a number of times when I first watched this epi I thought what are they trying to say about high school love because it was obv they were applying it to both. That ending scene w Chris and really the recent Chris stuff has opened up real emotions beyond Brooke's dumb games. We are getting the ramifications of her games. Skills and Bevin and The Notebook were definitely used to highlight Mouth and Peyton's segment and ultimately have Peyton question her decision regarding her mother.
