When talking about node-based design, I've generally used examples of single scenarios (and usually quite simple scenarios). This has the advantage of keeping the examples relatively uncluttered, but can also be inadvertently deceptive by masking the true power of node-based design. For example, nodes can be location, characters, organizations, and so forth.
