UPDATE: Parts are not working. Yea i tested everything, no worries you guys, returning em tomorrow to the store itself. life is pain. i'm tired.

---------------------

Hey fellas,

Sorry for the silence these days. Was working on some more Rosalina pics

Aaaaaaand my motherboard died.

Well, it's dying. Most of its USB ports are not working, which includes my tablet's. So I can't work atm. My CPU and MoBo are discontinued so I had to do a forced upgrade, parts ordered, waiting for them to arrive. After that is installing the OS and all that shit. I'm gonna be doing a backup now somehow with the one working port  available I still have.

So no art this week. I don't like finishing the month like this, so I apologize for the lack of art.

I might open up some commissions this month to recoup some of the costs from the upgrade (cuz it came out of nowhere and after my vacation i got no money lol). Yeah you guys (patrons) have priority if you want one. Still trying to decide my prices and such tho.

So yeah.
Not thrilled with this stuff.

Thank you all for understanding, I hope y'all have a better week than mine.

Cheers and apologies again.

Lux Rolls

Ya boy Hunter

Just went through some eye surgery but im tempted for a commission, and i know how much it sucks when your computers age starts to show

Naransolongo BB

I can understand that pain. Only a month or two after I got my PC two of the USB ports died (one physically because the top part got stuck in the USB itself somehow). If you do open comms know that my wallet is open for them

Megaflare08

Well I'm for sure open to get a commission!

HypnoBassist

I'll for sure commission you to help with the costs. I'm sorry your Mobo decided to shit itself.

If you're just reusing the drive from your current rig, you really don't need to backup and reinstall. Windows 8 and newer are pretty great about booting on new hardware, so you should just be able to plug it in the new rig and turn it on, and Windows will just take a little longer to boot the first time as it sets up all the new devices. Then you'll be right back where you were without having to set everything back up again, the most you'll have to do is reactivate Windows and install your motherboard's chipset drivers.

BlushyDewd

Hey, don't sweat it Coffee! Computer problems happen to all of us; it's inevitable. :3 Take your time and get whatcha need! We can wait x3

iksbob

Strange that all but one of the ports would die at once. Is the one that still works a front panel port or something? You could pick up a powered USB hub to plug in multiple devices for the transition. If it's still giving you problems after the MoBo upgrade, it might be the power supply's 5V rail. Just a long shot possibility - don't go ordering a new one yet.

donavan

No problems

AlextricBunyip

Oof that sucks to hear that the motherboard just went off and died, but will happily comm you if I manage to snag a slot

iksbob

Sounds like it should be pretty straight-forward. Install new MoBo, processor, heatsink, (RAM?), old graphics card and any PCIe cards in your old case. Plug in all the old cables and start it up, let windows do its thing. Half a dozen reboots later when windows thinks it's ready, open the device manager to see if there are any devices missing drivers. If there are, check your motherboard box for an install disk or other instructions.

Luminous

Mannn nobody could plan for something like this. Your good. Just be safe, happy and healthy.

fucmkign KITTY

Computers be like: "Couldn't help but notice you got a nice little thing going on here." *dies*

Jared K Gonzalez

Life happens sometimes. No need to apologize, but i hope everything goes smoothly during the upgrading process. Till then, have a nice time.

MightyMackinac

I will gladly pay hand over fist for a commission from you! Just say the word and money shall rain from the heavens!

MightyMackinac

What will probably happen is when you power on the new motherboard with your old storage attached is Windows will start up, install the new devices, and then once you log in, it will say something about changes to your configuration. You might need to install new drivers if Windows doesn't automatically install them itself. There is also the possibility that you will need to relicense Windows, but there is an option for "changed hardware recently" or something like that. That will automatically update the license to the new hardware.

A Man Named Jed

No need to apologize, these things happen. Did you enjoy the trip at least?

2022-08-24 12:57:40 There's really not much to it, just swap out your CPU and motherboard (and RAM, if you're replacing that) for the new ones, then boot it up. Windows will pretty much take care of the rest, you'll just need to reactivate Windows (open Settings, then go to Update & Security -> Activation and click Troubleshoot) and install your motherboard's chipset drivers. I'd skip the disc that comes in the box and just get them from your motherboard manufacturer's support site, they'll be more up-to-date that way.
