こんにちは!

Here's the lesson on the "MAYBE" and "PROBABLY"!!

I didn't explain this in the video but you can also use the simple (informal) past tense in front of 「かもしれない」like "might have...".
e.g.

1. It might have rained. / Maybe it rained.

雨が降っかもしれない。 /  雨が降ったかもしれません。
(あめ が ふっ かもしれない  /  あめ が ふった かもしれません)

Of course, you can omit the しれない and say:

雨が降っかも。
(あめ が ふっ かも)

You'll also hear:
*Speaker is looking at the paddle / water on the street."
雨が降ったかもしれないね。
(あめ が ふった の かも しれない ね)
= Maybe it rained.

The explanatory の particle is used here since the speaker is explaining the reason why there's a paddle either to himself or someone.

2. Kousuke might have been asleep. / Maybe Kousuke was sleeping.

こうすけは寝ていたかもしれない。
(こうすけ は ねていた かもしれない)

3. Phoebe might have not wanted to eat fish. / Maybe Phoebe didn't want to eat fish.

フィービーは本当は魚を食べたくなかったかもしれません。
(ふぃーびー は ほんとうは さかな を たべたくなかった かもしれません)

-------------------------------------------------------

Now let's do some exercises for かも and 多分 :)
練習問題(れんしゅう もんだい)

1.  I might be about 10 minutes late. (formal)

2.  Probably there is no toilet paper at that supermarket. (informal)

3. Maybe the Japanese team can win! (informal)

4. Please close the windows because the typhoon might come. (formal)

5. The train is probably faster.

6. Dad: "Do you think we should buy milk?"
Me: "Yeah. Oh wait, maybe Mum already bought milk." (informal)

Scroll down for answers :D No cheating!!!!

5. 多分電車のほうが速いよ。 / 電車のほうが多分速いよ。

tabun densha no hou ga hayai yo  /   densha no hou ga tabun hayai yo

私「うん。あ、待って、お母さんがもう牛乳買ったかも。」

otousan "gyuunyuu katta hou ga ii kana?"
watashi "Un. A, matte, okaasan ga mou gyuunyuu wo katta kamo"

*Note - 「牛乳買ったほうがいいと思う?」 (gyuunyuu katta hou ga ii to omou?) is okay too, but using かな which litereally means "I wonder" sounds more natural.

My son watched this one with me, and is now having great fun running around the house shouting "かもかも。かもかも。かもかも。かもかも"
