The last of the Watchers series marks the end of an era for me.  A set of 20 unique characters designed to subvert people's expectations about angels. To cap things off, I've been planning on creating a diversion from the usual by doing something far more traditional in appearance.

To stress the importance of this figure, I want to imply that he was so influential to mankind that he became the iconic vision for what we thought of as all angels. Throughout the series, I've included other animistic qualities throughout the Watchers with the hope for creating context for an angel that had bird wings on its back.

Azazel is the best known among the Watchers. He is a figure associated with ritual sacrifice. In Rabbinical tradition his name is interpreted to mean "for the complete removal".

When the fall came, it was the angels that were held in highest regard that had the farthest to fall. At the very top, Azazel was the most punished. The trust he instilled in those around him turned to poison when the end came. His choice to be faithful to Samyaza damned him and made his name eternally infamous.
