Azrael, The Grand Psychopomp - Color Phase (Patreon)

I played around a bit to see if I wanted to do anything drastic, but Azrael's signature palette of royal golds and muddy greens felt too right.

Azrael is a character I think about quite a bit when I daydream. My headcanon for him outstrips what's been shared publicly. So, this painting is my attempt at adjusting his image to better reflect the way he's being written. He's a guide and helper who seeks to assist a living soul through a journey outside the bounds of the living world. A classic psychopomp.

I'm just remembering that word now as I'm writing this, so I'm renaming the piece to match that (Step aside Charon, there's a new ferryman in town). Here's a bit from the Wikipedia article on the subject:
