This month's upcoming piece is of the Angel of Dust. He's the first character I ever designed for Angelarium. This will be his 4th incarnation and the most different from the all the past versions.

Back in the day, each time I re-illustrated an Angel, it was just an aesthetic upgrade. The series has been growing with me for so long, that after a while, each piece would start too look a little dated compared to the newest entries. After over 10 years of artistic progress, the newer illustrations for these characters are more focused on finding new and interesting examinations of the same themes rather than just upgrading old paintings. More than any other piece to date, I really feel like the new Suphlatus embodies that new direction for my work on Angelarium.

Just like the 3rd Suphlatus painting, this one is inspired by my time at Burning Man. That week really highlighted how temporary our experiences and creations can be. The Angel of Dust feels like the perfect vessel to encapsulate that feeling. I wanted to show a moment of rest and contemplation this time because I always remember those moments amidst intense experiences.
