Baraqiel Revival - Color Phase (Patreon)

One of the things that probably jumps out at you is how different this piece is from the Zodiac series I just finished. That's really not an accident. Every time I switch from one series within Angelarium to another, it's my goal to make them as distinct as possible. Part of that is simply just a part of the creative intent but another part is more personal. Every time things change in my life, I want to take my art in a slightly different direction. There has been a lot I wanted to do with my paintings that I didn't think was a good fit for the Zodiacs, but would be a great addition to the Watchers. It's really been a lot of fun and a breath of fresh air for me.

At first I was having a hard time deciding on a color palette of this piece, feeling really strongly about a version of it that stayed in black and white. While that's probably going to happen again, I really felt like I should use my newly found clean slate to try some color tricks that I didn't get to use yet. On this piece, I want to include flourishes of color that accent the piece in surprising ways. It's gonna look great in print.
