Artist Spotlight - Lauren K. Cannon (Patreon)

I've been meaning to spotlight some other creators here on Patreon, because I love to seeing other creators succeed. Periodically, I'm going to share some of their art in case you want to extend a pledge their way as well.

Some of you might recognize Lauren's work. She was helping me create tutorials early on in this campaign. She's also had some extremely popular painting tutorials that have circulated the web from back in the hay day of Deviant Art. More recently, she's been focusing on personal paintings, which I love!

One of the things that's always stuck out about Lauren's paintings is how personal they are. It's so obvious when you see them that they are a genuine emotional expression that's been crystallized into an image. That type of honesty is always the first thing I look for when I'm viewing a piece of art.

Lauren has been battling severe depression for years and she's been using Patreon to fund the cost of her treatment. Anyone who is familiar with depression can understand how frustrating it is to have the solution to your problems locked away behind the problem itself. During my own struggles with depression this last year, your support on Patreon was one of the things that created a stable foundation for me to get better. I really believe in the power of this platform and right now, I want to direct that power towards Lauren.
