When a project like Grim North comes knocking at your door, what do you do? You accept. Despite not playing much with supernatural beings, they and I have a peculiar commonality: an appreciation for darker, more somber, and neutral colors. Working on this project gave me the opportunity to create various new assets for plants, with subtly more morbid shades, but more than that, it allowed me to explore Victorian, Gothic, classical, and vintage constructions, just the way I love.
When I thought about the time period I wanted this map to be set in, I wanted it to be contemporary but not modern. Medieval but not ancient, meaning a period that mixed a bit of 1800s/1950s. These are quite disparate eras, but all I really needed was style, colors, and textures that reflected the supernatural nature in a majestic way. After all, if these beings can (supposedly) live forever, luxury seemed like the ideal path for them.
In the end, nobody knows who founded Grim North. The only thing that is known is that this is a place where humans should be cautious when venturing out in the middle of the night. Grim North is peaceful, quiet, serene, tranquil. There's a reason for that. Will your Sims try to stir up chaos by bringing parties and nightclubs to the city, or will they join the peaceful and rather chilly Grim North?
