Animation Wips (Patreon)

I’ve been animating this month on a few things! Here’s a couple of process gifs that I save as I work so I can check how the animation is coming along.

This one is one I’ve been working on and off for awhile. I wanted to have an example of how Daniel’s eyes actually work with the dilating and so on. It reminds me of a lizard. Top is the sketch with shadows, bottom is the clean up lines. The hair, face, head, neck and shoulders clean up are on on separate layers so it’s easier to do minor tweaks.

Last weekend I started one that is meant to be part of a short 6 sec clip based on this tiktok sound bite but honestly I don’t have the attention span for an animation that long (yet) so I pressed pause on this. Dan isn’t naked I just haven’t gotten around to drawing his clothes.

Ernest shaking his head is what I’ve been working on today. It’s like 6 hours or so total of work so far. Top is my first pass with just the main poses so I can fudge with the timing and then I start drawing the gaps between them and fixing stuff that’s not working.

This is currently what it looks like. It’s very rough and off-model but all the frames are there. Next is redrawing it all correctly and on-model before I can do clean up. Clean up’s my least favorite part of animating because it takes so long. The one with Dan’s black eyes took 3 days to clean up and that was 23 frames. The Ernest one is 32 frames. :’)
