JAN23 - Cover WIP (Patreon)

I put together a draft for the fanbook that Eden and I had planned on making before she passed away. I wanted to work on this sooner, but for the past three years I have had this terrible fear that I would be unable to put together a book worthy of her memory. The guilt that came along with putting off the project for so long was not very pleasant either.

It was last December while I was making a memorial page for her on my website with my limited coding knowledge, that I felt maybe I could finally do this, and that it would be okay if it wasn't perfect as long as I gave it my best shot. I don't consider myself a good illustrator or a good designer. I wish I was capable of making pieces with more symbolic meaning behind them. I wanted to make an evocative cover for our book, but that type of illustration just isn't my forte. I think I'm pretty good at character work though, so I decided to just go with a character focused approach.

In the end I'm pretty happy with this draft. I think Eden would have liked it! I knew going in I HAD to draw them being on the phone. It was inspired by this conversation with her.

I'm going to try to chip away at this cover little by little so I'm not sure when I'll have it done. I have a tendency to overwork things that I feel are important which sometimes ends up with me not liking the final result. So best to take it slow I think.

Probably a long shot but, I am also putting out a call for someone who has made a fanbook/zine before and might want to help me with some of the design aspects of this fanbook. I've got a terrible eye for font and color design and would really appreciate some help. I am not looking to make a profit when I have the book printed, since I only plan on making a really small batch and will be donating most of the digital sales (if any) to charity  but I could still pay a small sum for the help provided, if anyone feels like giving me a hand.
