The difference between Araragi and Karen in facing off against Kaiki is that Karen pursues justice because that's what a hero would do, but Araragi believes that in order to have such a strong conviction, there must be some kind of self-interest involved. For the Fire Sisters, there was no interest beyond doing it just because, treating it as a game of justice and heroism. However, for Araragi, there was a reason to confront Kaiki; he was the one who harmed his sister and interfered with his girlfriend's family. Personally, I believe that in this episode was when Araragi understood Karen and accepted the similarity he shares with his sister. He assumed the role of an older brother and influenced Karen with his sense of justice. At the end of the episode, it's shown that he didn't clip his sisters' wings from doing what they believed was right, even though they might be impostors of justice. Now, he lets them be defenders of justice, trusting that after the sermon, Karen will act in a better way. The song you recognized was the OP theme of the arc but in its acoustic version, a nice addition that they often include in the series, apart from usually mentioning the arc's name in its episodes.
