Part of the reason I like the movie so much is because It drove me crazy that I didn't understand it when I first watched it. I just kept thinking about it for like a week after. I've probably rewatched it like 7 times now, but still probably only understand like 80 percent of it. But I also kind of like that it's left up to viewer to figure out or even come up with their own meaning. During the first part of the credits, it gives a bit of an update on all the characters after graduation. It's ok if you missed it. I didn't even notice it until like the 4th time I watched it lol. I read an interview with the director and he said he chose the tomato 🍅 because he wanted something to remind people of the girls in their everyday life. I think that's kind of the same reason for the giraffe. Good luck seeing a giraffe, and not thinking "wakarimasu".
