Lunge mines are mostly consigned to history… but they have made an appearance recently in the videogame Battlefield V (published in 2018). In the game they’re a rather tricky weapon that can do significant damage if employed correctly. They don’t always kill the user (though do always inflict some damage), and when one lunge mine user faces off against another the one who begins their charge latest tends to come off the victor. Accurate? Not exactly... but it’s interesting to see this obscure weapon cropping up in a videogame nonetheless.

Here's a tragic recent news story I came across on YouTube the other day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hvSbZjwOa8

On a related note, how about a video on the Pennsylvania chocolate factory explosion that happened earlier this year? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Pennsylvania_chocolate_factory_explosion

That's quite an extraordinary explosion. My first thought was a gas leak... but the presence of the abandoned mine underneath is interesting. Will keep an eye on this story and see if any definite answers emerge
