The final words from Leonidas to Ephialtes: "...may you live forever" was actually meant as the ultimate insult. He wanted to live, serve, and even die as a Spartan but would never get the chance. Spartans believed if they died in battle it was honorable and respected. Ephialtes would never receive that. As for the term, the "immortals".. their numbers were so vast and since they all dressed alike that every country and army that faced them couldn't tell any difference and when one died another would immediately take their place. This was such an epic movie from the start to the finish!!

It's funny you mentioned how accurate it is. It's basically a narration by delios as anti Persian propaganda to rally up Spartans for war. So it makes sense that he'd amp up some of the more fantastical stuff to make the Spartans look better and the Persians look like evil savages.
