My brain has been burning calories working on April's video. Based on the image, can you guess what it might be about? Sometimes the art is only tangentially related to the subject at hand, but you can try guessing anyway! This piece is by Thomas Cole.

The video for March has been completed. Its working title is "How To Create A Culture." Though I didn't see it taking me there when I first came up with the idea for the subject, it has unexpectedly expanded my understanding and ability to communicate some key revolutionary concepts. Plus I got to weave in some really interesting ideas too!

Some portions of the script didn't make it in the end. There are some topics I shy away from because I don't see any productive way to engage with them on a public online platform. For instance, to give you a glimpse at some of my editing thoughts, I ended up removing a section where I delved into the messy world of cultural appropriation. I felt that it would distract too severely from the core thesis of the video. While that distraction might boost engagement, it is not the sort of engagement I want to cultivate on my channel.

In other news, I actually enjoyed the little chatty livestream from earlier this month. I'm glad folks on here were receptive to making it public. I've started gathering my various little thoughts that can't make it into videos in preparation for the next stream and I've learned from some of the mistakes of the previous stream (like trying to keep up with comments instead of being in the moment) for next time. Hopefully, with better preparedness and a smoother flow, the experience will be much improved in the future.

Those are all the thoughts I have to share for now. Not sure if I'll make these monthly but I caught a vaps to write this down today after a lengthy saga of both writing and scouring the internet for art. Time for the gym.

I am not sure if it is cool to comment on these, but that painting just immediately makes me think of Isle of the Dead. Maybe it is just the connection to decay (I just googled to see if there was any connection, and the idea of empire to desolation is really cool to see from an artist)
