As a young boy, Koi roamed his riverside community in Chakbeh, Bohio. He knew the whole village and would spend entire days with different neighbours, learning from them and their trades. On some days, he would kayak upstream with his friends, playing pretend and fishing for tilapia. Other days, he'd hide away in a corner of the library, behind the towering bookshelves.

As years passed, he never stopped learning and never stopped doing. He sat in on community meetings, seeded an extension of the Chakbeh food forest, and performed extempo under full moons. He occupied himself with cooking, dancing, sewing, and painting. Among friends and alone. Some days, he'd help repair the inter-community tram, and other days he'd ferry passengers downstream. Whatever he could to support his home. He was free to explore what he wanted to explore, and he wanted to explore everything.

He couldn't imagine life any other way.
