The bit right at the end where the girl whistles right before the predator kills the french man is tied to some native superstition (i know it is for navajo, not sure for comanche). Tribes believe that you should never under any circumstances whistle at night. They believe a shapeshifter of some kind, that can transform into any kind of animal even a human will whistle back. Basically an invitation for evil spirits. Neat they tied that in.

Immensely enjoyable watch-along. My favorite moment comes from Mr. Blitztek, keeping it fresh starting at 1:26:41 🤪

What confuses me about this film is how some people thought this film was part of that “Mary Sue” agenda, where the film purposely makes the men dumb just so the female protagonist can be the hero. In my eyes, that’s the biggest trash argument I’ve ever heard! At some point people have to use common sense, taking into account the era, the culture, and the traditions. This is a film that was taken place during the 1700s, with a Native American tribe. Their viewpoint of the woman’s role in their community is not present day, it makes sense for them to disregard her as a hunter. Her brother does defend her by when she sneaks on their trip, saying she’s better at tracking than them. Like I don’t get how this film was considered mid! This to me is the third best in the franchise, behind “Predator” and “Predator 2”
