I am slowly getting through a lot of video content, of which is the run through of this sparkmaker which is proving to be a great little machine.

Sure, it has some hiccups but the print above was done at 0.5mm (honestly I dont see alot of difference between 0.25 and 0.5 besides the time being doubled.. the LCD is low res so it doesnt really do 0.25 that well anyway)

But the print above which is about 6.5cm high took 6.5 hours, so pretty much 1cm per hour which is not lightning but if I were to print the same thing on my FDM at 0.1 and slow to get the same detail, I think it would still have taken 3-4 hours of printing.

I'm not doingt the entire Hoth scene on the SLA, it was just the head, the rest is just far too large for this tiny weeny machine.

Is this the same size head you would print through a fdm ? As I have been looking into a sla but I didn't want to get a expensive machine till I knew I could do

I could have printed this on an FDM and for that size I probably would have, but just felt I would get the best quality for painting out of the SLA on the face. The sparkmaker is not expensive... $300 (so about $250U.S) so it really is the base model SLA but as you can see it does work. Resin is the expensive part!

Thanks Geoff I heard the spark maker wasn't up to much and was told to stay clear

for the money it is worth getting your feet wet so to speak, I have seen people with more issues with the anycubic photon.. and honestly they are all similar issues, the Vat leaking etc. bad contact with the FEP and LCD.. It seems anything you spend less than $1200 on is going to require a bit of work, and really I have not done much to mine at all, maybe 1 hour of tweaking, sanding some parts down to make them slide better etc, nothing that was difficult. I can't say Im hugely impressed with it but as I said, it's doing the job and for the price you could have two of the in place of one photon

Thanks for the information Geoff I will look into it. As I would like one for heads and hands.
