The most aesthetic shape is the capsule.

Think of a stereotypical pill shape and that's basically it. This isn't something that I'm looking to have a discussion about or convince you of, I'm just telling you. The capsule is also the most phallic "basic" shape; to get any more phallic you have to start drawing actual dicks. This is the reason that the new logo's central element is a capsule, and also why the new environments take the form of capsules.

In fact, the capsule is almost painfully appropriate for this role. The reasons range from practical to philosophical:

  • The capsule provides a clearly enclosed area with a size that allows expressiveness in multiple dimensions while remaining manageable.
  • The capsule has roughly the same proportions as a human being, hence why game character collision volumes are often capsules.
  • Capsules being circular in the horizontal plane is mathematically convenient for calculating distances and angles.
  • Although not naturally terminating in a flat "floor", capsules provide logical points to place floors and ceilings within them.
  • Capsules call to mind medication and supplements: atomic pieces of mind and body altering substance, like both video games and the act of masturbation.
  • Medications are customizable and personal, like Hyperdeep aims to be, and like the act of sexual expression tends to be.
  • The taking of medication represents control over one's own body; Hyperdeep gives this control over a virtual body (or two virtual bodies) to the player.
  • Capsules are iconic in the medium of anime art: Kaneda's jacket, entry plugs from Evangelion, etc.

Now that you're convinced, I hope you're looking forward to more capsule environments in future! (When custom environments are supported I'll allow you to create non-capsular environments, despite my dogmatic beliefs).

Shaping Up

The number of active Patrons on this page is very gradually diminishing each month. This is not a complaint, in fact far from it. Really I'm incredibly lucky that some of you have stuck around for as long as you have. I'm also not confused as to why this is happening, it's obvious: I don't interact with you, my audience, at all, and I make no effort whatsoever to promote the game.

I have been repeatedly putting off remedying these issues, and have been caught in a catch-22 of my own pride's doing: I don't want to promote a game that has bugs to a wider audience, and I'm afraid of confronting the bugs I've failed to fix because I'm afraid of failure and disappointing people, and I'm afraid of talking to my own audience because I have been guilty of the previous two things for such a long time now.

Obviously this state of affairs cannot continue, which is why I will be undertaking a "great reset" of sorts.

The great reset will occur this month (September).

I often shy away from making promises to my audience because I like to avoid accountability like a coward, but this is in fact a promise.

The great reset will involve me reading and responding (where appropriate) to all of my Patreon comments and messages.

(This is another promise.)

The great reset will also involve me logging back into the Discord and staying logged in and active there.

(The pen-penultimate promise)

The next stage of my rebirth will come in two parts. The first part will be a grand survey of my patrons to collect reports on every single bug or issue that exists in the game today.

I will then fix all of these things before adding any new features or content (or new bugs).

(The penultimate promise)

This will hopefully be accomplished for September's update.

Finally, when the community is re-engaged and the game is free of glaring issues, I will begin promoting the game to bring in some fresh lifeblood for the good of us all.

I will use social media and shill the game like my livelihood depends on it (it does)

(This is the final promise.)

I have made five promises to you today, which is five more than I would usually consider making, but if I don't the game and community will probably stagnate into a weird awkward mess and I really would rather that not happen.

Thank you for your attention today, and I look forward to making your acquaintance again very soon.

P.S. I added those weird disconnected cuff things that girls wear with bunnysuits in anime sometimes as an accessory. Cool!

P.P.S. Have you guys tried stable diffusion yet? This shit is crazy-go-nuts.

Sounds good, and good luck! Meanwhile I'll make a promise to actually check out the update myself - I've been in a mostly passive state regarding many of my subscriptions on different platforms for a while, for most of them it's just the matter of not actually keeping up-to-date with content that is released. The reasons are many, mostly due to my on-going depression but also because I've stretched my "grasp" of erotic content I'm interested in so wide that it's difficult to keep up with all of it. In the case of Hyperdeep in particular, I more or less decided to stick with it regardless of circumstances unless you outright disappear for months, because deepthroating in general is such a huge part of my erotic fetishes. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that nearly all of my commited searching for erotic content is focused on deepthroat. Anyway. Dealing with your mental stuff, whether it's larger issues or facing smaller issues is almost always difficult regardless of whether you're in a otherwise healthy place. My main advice is to not be too afraid of (smaller) failures or falls - It's generally far better to actively try to accomplish something then failing than to not try at all due to fear of failure, because failing helps us grow and improve. It's only when you refuse to acknowledge, accept and/or face your failures that you truly stagnate.

Very happy to hear you're taking the first step and acknowledging the lack of communication and promising to work on it. The engineer in me keeps me subscribed but that doesn't work for everyone, as you've pointed out. Hopefully this is the start of an upward trajectory for Hyperdeep in terms of fostering some sort of community to help grow and develop the game.

Thanks for sticking around dude. This basically sums up my thought process behind it and hopefully I can turn things around a bit.

Yeah I think a lot of my issue is spending all of my time in "engineer mode" and not enough time thinking about the game from the perspective of the people actually playing. No matter how technically nice some elements of the game are, nobody wants to play a tech demo forever.
