Hello HoW, R+L=D: I subscribed to R+L=J for a long time. It is tantalizing to think of Jon Snow as a secret Targaryen. There is a lot to the theory. However, I now believe Rhaegar and Lyanna gave birth to Dany. First, Rhaella was older and had a history of miscarriages, so she is unlikely to have conceived Dany so late in life. Second, Dany has many visions of Rhaegar including the one in the House of the Undying. Rhaegar looks at Dany and he says the dragon must have three heads. Why would he say that to his sister? It makes more sense he would say that to his daughter. Third, Dany sees the blue rose (Lyanna) growing from a chink in the Wall. There is heavy implication that this refers to Jon. However, if Lyanna is Dany's mother, the reference to Dany would make sense too. Fourth, Dany's backstory is a bit convoluted and appears artificial. Fifth, why did Ned go to Starfall? Ostensibly to return Dawn and see the Lady Ashara. If Dany is born at the Tower of Joy, it would be too explosive for Ned to be carrying a white haired, purple-eyed infant girl. Ned could not pass that baby off as his. Ned goes to Starfall and either sees his bastard or Brandon's (Jon). The baby swap occurs and Ashara takes Dany into hiding. Ashara must then likely give Dany to Sir Willem Darry at Dragonstone and everyone passes Dany off as Rhaella's. And lastly, Maester Aemon put it succinctly. "Daenerys is the one, born amidst salt and smoke. The dragons prove it." I believe that Dany is the prince that was promised. Please share your thoughts. Hat tip to Preston Jacobs for raising several of these issues. Toney of House Whalawitsa
