Comics blog #7: The Guard or "Me trying my best at being Clive Barker, take 2" (Patreon)

So I've started sketching to get the overall look of the lady-guard.
This is her first sketch, it kinda nails it, but that wasn't creepy enough. The face was more of a fitness trainer-type. I didn't really like that.
So I made her a new face:
Now that's more like it! That went final, kinda, as you can see on the actual comic pages.
I also wanted to make her more of an Ex-military, which she lowkey is, actually. I wanted to give her a bunch of navy tattoos, USA flag on the chest and what not, but I decided that was a little too much of a political statement. If you really want it - you can go watch "Apocalypse Now" or "Full Metal Jacket".
The "Inner american" quote is from one of those movies, I believe, I'm not really sure.
Anyway...
You can probably tell that in the actual comics she looks kinda suspicious. And there is a reason for that.
(Spoiler alert!)
She turns out to be more than just a face-control security.
This sketch was done a couple months ago and I was pretty happy with it:
But that wasnt't for a very long time.
A week ago I decided to work on creatures and body-horror aspects of the story and design. I started sketching some nightmare fuel just for fun and exploration:
And I thought "That looks pretty dope!".
I decided to make some kind of a boss-fight with the guard from before, to make it epic, tense and creative.
But then I went a couple pages back in my sketchbook and saw this again:
And I was like:
"Naaaaah, that's kindergarten level, that's for babies! I mean, look at this bullshit! I can do better than that!"
And so I did:
Now we're cooking!
That's what you get for being racist to a little Vietnamese girl.
