Hello everyone!

Well, things didn't go very smoothly this month either, so I'm only just getting 0.7.11 out now - and I wouldn't have minded a bit more testing time at that.

Because I'm a month behind, I've decided to pause the Patreon billing for this month. That means you will not be charged on June 1st. If I'd managed to get this release out a week or so earlier then I might have tried to push through and get 2 releases out by the end of July, but seeing as I've been having a hard time with once a month, committing to two just seems crazy. So, a pause it is.

It's difficult to know how things will go - I've been having a on-and-off problems with fatigue that make it hard for me to focus. This might be due to my condition, or a side-effect from medicine I'm taking, or it could be due to anaemia - a recent test showed a low red cell count. I don't think it's anything dramatically serious, but I'll have to keep getting tests and see if they can narrow down a cause.

Anyway, this release adds the potential to have a girlfriend. I don't know how dramatic the new addition is in terms of content but there was a *lot* of fiddly changes to code & text all over the place as the entire game to now had been written and coded with the assumption that the PC's partner, if she had one, was a man.

Unfortunately, these sort of "changes everywhere" updates tend to come with more bugs than ones that mainly add a single large scene. Please report any bugs you find in a comment here, or on the discord, or by PM. I'll be travelling over the next week and while I will be working on new content, I won't be able to release a bugfix version while I'm away. I will get one out (if necessary) once I return but I'm afraid it won't be as quick as usual.

Aside from that, for the next version I'm going to try to do just one big scene. Hopefully this will be more straightforward and go more smoothly than the last few months. I haven't really thought too much about what scene to add, but I think I'll go back to the "lesbian sex scene" poll and pick one from there.

Well, here's the changelog. Have fun with the new release!

Major changes & additions:

The PC can now fall in love with other women.

Added some new crush-dreams for lesbian crushes.

You can now get into a relationship with another woman.

Updated some events to work with lesbian partners; other relationship events still require a male partner.

Minor changes:

Added a new lesbian caressaction for GROPE.

Added some possible extra lines when a man approaches you in the club.

Loosened the femininity restriction on the male-start-specific crush dream to make it easier to trigger.

Changes for user-submitted content:

The $gf object is now populated (when appropriate) in MiniEvent.

Bugfixes:

Fixes to some text issues. Thanks to anyone who reported any of these – I'm afraid I neglected to note down any names this time.

Fixed a bug reported by AnarChYsT where a text section in the hypno scene wasn't being shown.

Fixed a bug where the office hunk could ask to go back to your flat after a party if your partner was living with you, rather than the other way around.

Fixed a bug that could make lesbian dates skip the goodbye actions.

I also hope you feel better soon! And also sending good vibes that your travel goes smoothly.

Congrats on the release, and hope your health improves! some bugs: When saying goodbye to a girl after she sleeps over, the game always says "Frankly, you're glad to see the back of her." even if you like her. While hosting a house party, your girlfriend will ask you if she can take one of the men home with her. Which is polite, I suppose, but probably not correct behavior.

Yeah as expected the girlfriend implementation obviously needs a LOT of polish as there's an insane amount of logical errors, which is fair and to be expected, it's literally the biggest sudden change to every single already implemented interaction ever. On a side note, I'm in no way bashing the release for that, I'm glad there was a release given the circumstances, Splendid has always been very transparent and consistent with communication, so I'm more than happy to continue supporting Newlife. Still, to list just a few of those logistical errors, there's things like the impregnator friend wanting help impregnating a girl and the girl in question is your girlfriend (which in my opinion, if intentionally implemented, could play out extremely hot) and then no one in the interaction really acts like there's any significant relationship. There's also no anniversary implemented. There's no consequences for cheating on your girlfriend or even from getting pregnant due to said cheating. There's no consequences OR interactions from your girlfriend getting pregnant since technically she's not your "friend" she doesn't confide that in you. Also the "skip sex" action doesn't work for lesbian sex, I would like the option to have it instead of just spam clicking until orgasm and "that's enough". Dates still and sex still need a bit of polish but that's also understandable. The aforementioned logistical errors of your girlfriend showing interest at House Parties (which if later implemented intentionally could be extremely hot too). But anyway, future ideas for future releases. I know I'd love for, as a natural part of relationships and marriage, pregnancy between you or your girlfriend or both to play a part. The obvious route is also to add adoption at some point, but just the possibilities, especially with impregnator NPCs, so exciting.

I suspect that this is related to your jerk girlfriend always (??) greeting you like an asshole at the beginning of dates, even if you've been together awhile and your relationship is solid.

I haven't seen that. Girls show up on time (or not) and greet you appropriate to their personality and your relationship.

I haven't tested extensively, but what I've seen so far is that the jerk GF I made was always a douche in certain cases, even when the relationship was good.

I might be missing something, but PCs in MF relationships always seemed to have a boost to their will in tests from non-partner males, and I'm not seeing that with an FF relationship.

Thanks! I've been feeling much better this month. The excellent doctors at my local NHS hospital ran some tests and reduced the dose of one of my medications. Since then I've felt properly back to normal so it looks like it was a side-effect after all.

Thank you! I'm feeling much better and I even managed to get quite a bit of work done on my crummy old laptop while I was travelling.

Thanks both! I've found some bugs there and they should be fixed for the next version. For now I've just blocked the "take someone home" action in that situation, though I wonder if a longer look might be worthwhile once lesbian cheating is updated. I couldn't find a bug with date greetings, although of course that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one there. I suspect this is due to lesbians not having the same "behaviour faking" code that men get. The text I think you're referring to is limited for the "mean" npc-behaviour which a jerk-personality NPC will choose as long as their love level is below CRUSH and their liking is below LIKE. Notably, Jerks (including lesbian ones) have a 50% chance of getting the misanthrope trait which means they will never meet the liking theshold. They can still fall in love, but that tends to grow slower than liking and CRUSH is a fairly high threshold to meet.

Thanks! This is a great post. I've added a quick-sex option and sorted the quicker issues. For the rest, I'll be revisiting your comments in a later release. In particular, an update to handle cheating is probably on the cards.

It should be there, though it is limited to PCs with the romantic trait. It's only 10 points though, so not an overwhelming impact.

There's also IVF or IUI (the turkey baster method), which can actually be easier and cheaper than adoption. Theoretically the easiest method of having a baby is the old-fashioned way, but not every couple is comfortable with having some guy nut in one or both of them for weeks until they confirm the pregnancy. In real life there might also be legal concerns, since in that case the guy can potentially claim parental rights over the child. Given that the game already has readily-available super science, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that two women could get pregnant together, as another alternative to adoption. It's theoretically possible in real life. (You would still need a sperm, but you replace the DNA in the sperm with that from an ova, then carry out IVF. The resulting child would always be a girl (no Y chromosomes around) and would be a blend of DNA from both her mothers. In real life it's not currently possible to transplant DNA this way without damaging it, and there's some other issues too, but that's the theory. You can also blend two egg cells together before fertilizing the result, so the child genetically has two mothers and one father, which is sometimes done to help reduce the risk of inherited conditions.) Or, hey, maybe there could be a techno-strap-on that allows one partner to magically impregnate the other with science. Or maybe Ivy could shoot a laser through the pelvises of the player character and her partner and poof, pregnancy.
