Hi all, hope you're having a great start to the week.

I'll keep this one short because I'm a little tipsy - I'm rewarding myself with a drink. Specifically, Hooper's alcholoic dandelion and burdock - not one that appears in Newlife. And yes, I am indeed an utter lightweight who gets tipsy from just one drink.

The reason for this little celebration is because for once things are going really well come end-of-month and I'm actually ahead of schedule. I normally have a frantic, not to mention stressful, scramble to finish the release over the last few days of the month beause of over-optimistic planning.

This time however, things are going very smoothly. In fact, actual development on the next release is complete and it's in a compilable state. I just have to run some tests and look over a few forums and PMs for bug reports and it'll be done.

The next release will add support for career switching, along with a job-interview scene and the ability to be unemployed or a full-time housewife. Sales will still be the only proper career, but this puts together a framework to allow others to easily be added if they have enough events to justify their inclusion.

This might seem an odd choice given the still-ongoing vote that work & career probably will not win. This is, however, the reason for my decision to add careers support now. I didn't expect work & careers to win the vote given that it came 3rd last time but I had a PM from a potential volunteer writer asking about the possibility of writing a new career's worth of scenes. I decided that if they chose to do so I wanted the game to support their work without asking them to wait for a vote to go their way.

Well, I just wrote the post title and it took me 3 tries to spell "update" correctly, so I'd best stop writing. Next release very soon, and I hope you're all having a great summer so far :)
