Making Covid sexy...

Despite the heading, I'm certainly not making light of the pandemic and anyone who has suffered losses because of it has my condolences. That said, it was simply too big an event NOT to include in the Kingswood world. The question was, how do you include a deadly virus in a light, playful story about boys at a sex school?

In a way, Kingswood is the perfect place for a pandemic. They're already isolated, which means with a few easy steps it's simple to virus-proof the facility, but there would certainly need to be precautions put in place!

While the pandemic is first mentioned in Chapter 24 (still eight weeks away), it really kicks into full gear with Chapter 26 and I decided to do things a little bit differently. In order to monitor the boys returning from the February half-term break and ensure none were carrying the virus, all boys get put into paired isolation for two weeks (i.e. two boys together in each room, physically separated from the rest of the school).

However, I didn't want the lockdown to just drag on forever and have Covid become the focus, because I've seen enough of that in TV shows this year! Instead, the full two week period is covered in Chapter 26... with a twist. Each pair of dorm 1.01 boys has their own version of the chapter. While they very much live their own experiences, there are events that happen across all four versions that tie them together.

Aside from being a very fun experience to write in such a different way, the lockdown gave a rare opportunity for the pairs to really have a lot of time together. If you're interested, the pairs are pretty much what you would expect - Chris and Danny, Rob and Josh, David and James, Nicky and Mikey.

But of course, being me, just having a four-version chapter wasn't exciting enough. Chapter 25 has a truly explosive conclusion and Chapter 26 ends with the biggest cliffhanger of the series so far! As you can probably tell, I'm very excited to have you all read it.
