Monsters At The Gate

CHAPTER 2:

"A beautiful world to destroy. A Thunder Goddess?"

The Fight had started without even the orange-haired Mage having time to think through what she was doing, it had all been an annoying impulse or perhaps the obsessive need to stand out in something, OR just plain, pure stupidity. Kat had been more accurate in the latter alternative.

It had just been stupidity.

The strange woman hovering on a cloud ended up showing an expression on her face, eager for fight and blood.

"Oh girl, you are so dead now"- The red thunder woman had begun to wiggle her huge thorn maso, making the motion of a circle above her head, lightning and thunder began to generate from the sky in a sort of whirlwind.

(SERIOUSLY!!!!, WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING!!!, THAT "THUNDER TOMATO" IS GOING TO KILL ME RIGHT HERE!!!!)

Kat breaks out in a cold sweat in the face of her impending death, but also comes with it the urge to try to save herself using her best techniques, all of which are useless.

"FAMILY OF THE FLAME!!!"- Kat raises her hands as she recites a small activation command.

A huge flame is generated in the fire mage's hands. The thunder woman doesn't show a bit of interest, but even if, she pauses to see what her next victim's attack is doing.

"Uh, is that an attack?"- a bored expression appears on the thunder woman's face.

"CENTIPEDES!!!"- Kat shouts to summon her FAMILIAR. A fire being in the form of a centipede appears from a fire hole which had been generated by Kat. "NOW MY BEAUTIFUL FIRE INSECT!!!, ROTATE THAT 'LIGHTNING ROD FLASHER'S' ASS!"!

Kat strikes a confident tone as she sends her centipede to attack the thunder woman, but an event, or rather, something that was to be expected occurs.

"Uh..."

"Uh?"

Both women watch closely as the FAMILIAR ends up roasted and turned to ashes by its own fire.

Kat watches with an expression of fear and also great frustration as her centipede disappears and also as the thunder woman watches the failed attempt to make an attack by the mage.

"hehe..."

"¡HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!"- The thunder monster starts laughing uncontrollably to the point of stopping her attack and lying on her cloud laughing.

"SERIOUSLY!!!!, SERIOUSLY!!!, were you trying to do something!!!?"- The thunder woman screams as she doesn't stop laughing.

"WAHHHHHHH!!!!"- Instead, Kat starts to cry in frustration as she looks up at the sky.

"Why, why, why, why, why, why, NOTHING WORKS FOR ME!!!, I'M REALLY A COMPLETE FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"- Kat curses her luck and displays childlike behavior.

Without letting her whining stop, Kat tries to rush back to the agency and do her best not to get killed right there by the thunder monster.

"Oh Girl, I really feel so sorry for you, I don't know whether to crush you or burn you alive, let's see"- after recovering from the huge "attack" of laughter caused by the useless mage. Thunder Woman starts to wiggle her huge maso again in order to think of a way to assassinate the pathetic creature. 

"oh, nothing comes to mind, maybe this will help as usual"- the red thunder woman removes from the cloud a strange gourd which is used to transport alcohol, and proceeds to take a big sip.

"HELL YEAH, this always makes Mistyk!!! perk up and come up with great ideas!"- with great excitement, the Thunder Monster, Mistyk, who is now in a clear state of inebriation, prepares to reveal a new trick.

"I think I can do that, I need you to hold still for a bit, okay?"- rising from his cloud, Mistyk adopts an intimidating stance as he begins to absorb the clouds and the massive lightning bolts he had generated with his maso.

Kat watches in terror as the clouds and all the thunder begin to enter Mistyk's mouth, but not only is she terrified, the people nearby begin to run in the same manner to avoid the horrible oncoming attack 

"OPEN THE DOOR!!!"- Kat starts banging desperately on the door of the agency seeing that she can't do anything else to stop the thunder show Mistyk.

After the horrible scene of how the lightning from the sky was absorbed by Mistyk, it is now ready to launch its attack. The monster's body is now electrified and full of power.

"hehe, sorry for the delay, we are ready to start this party"- Mistyk opens his mouth to give the very accurate impression that his attack resembles a cannon launching from his mouth. Just thinking about all the accumulated power that will be launched by that technique, Kat finally enters breaking part of the door of the entrance to the agency. 

With all the chaos outside on the street, Kat finds a completely different scene taking place inside the lobby.

His boss, Ras, and his secretary, Shade, are surrounded by a stack of papers and phones, which they answer relentlessly.

"Wouldn't you be interested in taking the Monster Hunter job now, Mr. Camus?"- Shade behaves like a well-mannered and well-mannered secretary as she tries to hire one of the former applicants for the Monster Hunter job, but it doesn't end up yielding much fruit, "Oh, I understand, but still, if you change your mind, we look forward to hearing from you, be well".

"Bad ball?"- Ras asks while he is analyzing the resumes of the hunter applicants.

"don't worry Mr. Ras, we will soon be with a new work team"- Shade does not give up in his attempt to hire hunters and tries again to call another applicant.

"I see, try to communicate with Mr. Edward, I think he is still in the casinos, and with Miss Noruh too, we certainly need her now"- Ras shuffles all the possibilities to be able to reactivate his monster hunting agency, the first step, rehire all his former employees, "tell him that I am willing to give them double the salary, and with several more benefits".

The small business meeting ends the moment Kat starts waving her arms in a hurried manner to signal or announce danger.

"WE MUST GET OUT OF HERE!!!, AN EXHIBITIONIST MONSTER IS ABOUT TO BLOW THE ENTIRE CITY TO HELL!!!"- Kat shouts in a desperate manner and not caring about disturbing her bosses calm.

"So you couldn't handle her, that's something that doesn't surprise me, at least you could go buy some time while we work here"- Shade waves his hand like he's kicking a cat out of the street.

"or maybe you could help us make some calls here, find a way to hire some hunters"- Ras is as usual more calm than usual, even his manners in dealing with his employees are not altered on an occasion of "IMMINENT CATACLISM".

"But, and the exhibitionist witch outside, she'll kill us right now!!!" - Kat protests. 

"You mean the one behind you?"- Shade points a finger at the monster a few feet away from Kat.

"what an exhibitionist monster, huh?"- Mistyk doesn't take off her smiling expression even after being called an exhibitionist and other insults.

"WAHHH!!!!!"- Kat faints from shock and also from knowing that everyone in the room is now dead.

Mistyk loses interest in the fire mage who is now on the floor passed out from fear, the monster woman now focuses her attention on other prey.

"Well, well, what's over here?"- approaching the hall table where Ras and Shade lie. Mistyk lies on the table looking at her very possible victims, who have now decided to pay attention to her because of the very relaxed and uneducated attitude the red thunder woman has.

"I like this place, although you should tidy it up a bit, clean it up, remodel it, and maybe even put some more life in here, is it really just the three of you?"- Mistyk doesn't look away from the man who seems to be the boss of the small building, although Ras continues to keep his attention on re-hiring his hunters.

"This business has been on hiatus for a while, and I've lost most of my employees, but I certainly want to remodel as well"- Ras keeps up an uninteresting conversation with Mistyk who doesn't look away from the businessman.

"oh really, that's too bad, and tell me, are you a hunter too?"- Mistyk continues the awkward little conversation with Ras, "since I still want to kill some, and the brat over there, I'll save her for last".

Ras smiles coyly at Mistyk who has started to play with one of the businessman's locks, it even looked like a scene of two "lovers" and not the scene of a monster playing with its food before devouring it.

"I appreciate the detail, but I'm no hunter or mage, much less a fighting man, I'm just a businessman, an ordinary human"- Ras keeps the same distance with Mistyk who seemed to take some interest in the conversation and is surprised to learn that the boss of his "main enemies" is just an ordinary human, "wait, are you serious, are you like the humans I killed out there a few moments ago, I can't believe you, I really thought you were someone powerful, it's a pity".

"Just a businessman, I'm sorry to break your illusion"- Ras continues his attention on the phones and resumes of his former employees, an attitude which does not fail to attract the attention of the thunder monster.

Faced with such a strange scene, Shade and Kat, who had already woken up, carefully observe the thunder monster who gives off a clear smell of alcohol, and not only that, it was enough to look at Mistyk's face to notice the small cheeks rubbed under his eyes, and a somewhat dizzy look.

A clear sign.

"she's completely drunk"- Kat and Shade say it at the same time with surprise on their faces.

"hehehe, you really look too relaxed, how about I kill you right now"- Mistyk's happy expression meets with a sharp, dark look in her eyes. For her, murdering is one of her greatest pleasures, absolute indifference towards her victims, but even for her, if her victim shows no signs of fear or desperation, the "magic moment" is ruined.

"well, everyone's time comes, sadly we can't choose how, but at least I kept a good run of business in life, eh did a lot of great things, eat good food, taste good wine and create a successful line of black tie suits"- Ras smiles genuinely after recapping his successful life to a sky assassin who has opened her eyes in surprise at her would-be victim's response, "but most important of all, that I lived my way".

Mistyk sits on the table, in a more than suggestive pose towards Ras, but his smile has been wiped off his face, and even, his maso and his alcohol, both resting on the sides of the table.

"I see, here I have a passionate businessman"- Mistyk comes within inches of Ras' face, "you know, I've thought better of it, I think I'll keep you".

Mistyk slowly moves closer to finally kiss Ras.

"WHAT!!!"- Kat is taken aback by Mistyk's change of plans.

"UNGODLY EXHIBITIONIST, YOU MUST DIE NOW!!!"- Shade explodes in anger, generating some sort of dark vortex near where Mistyk lies, 

"INTO THE VOID!!!"- Shade shouts revealing the activation of his ability, a black hole which tries to suck Mistyk in, but Mistyk dodges it without problems jumping backwards and staying right at the entrance of the agency.

"Hehe, so there are more hunters here!!!" - Mistyk shouts excitedly upon discovering another hunter.

Wasting no more time, the thunder woman once again brandishes her huge maso to continue generating a great torrent of electrical energy, destined to blow the entire building to pieces.

"this is great!!!, who would have thought I would have so much fun today!!!"- Before Mistyk unleashes that blast of electricity and kills everyone in the place. a chair hits her face. "WAHHH!".

Kat is shown to be the one responsible for interfering with the monster's attack, although she tries to keep a firm and brave attitude, her whole body is shaking with fear, which is noticed by everyone.

"and I have more where that came from"- Kat grabs another chair to throw it towards Mistyk, but in a few moments, the thunder woman is a few inches close to her. 

"Change of plans, you'll die first, flamita"- Mistyk prepares to connect his huge club straight to Kat's head, but in those moments, before the deadly weapon impacts.

A vortex sucks Kat in, saving her for a few moments.

Shade creates another dark sphere which was the same one that absorbed Kat, "Mr. Ras, we must get out of here!".

"time to abandon ship, I'm sorry we have to leave miss..."- Ras carries with him some suitcases and also several sheets of hunters who tried to apply to his company.

"Mistyk"- The thunder woman finally gives her name to Ras, but this was only a delayed courtesy.

"Miss Mistyk, I hope to see you another time, but business can't wait"- Ras enters the spherical vortex created by Shade while the secretary does the same, leaving Mistyk all alone inside the agency.

"Damn, and I was hoping to have a more fun day"- Mistyk shows an expression of boredom and also frustration.

Despite having lost his new opponents, the monster decides not to think too much about it and also refuses to waste the attack he had been accumulating.

"it would be a real shame not to use all this power"- Mistyk starts to overload his huge club which starts to release sparks and electric charges all over the place, "well, I simply must kill everyone in this pathetic city!".

KRAAKABOOM!

A huge lightning bolt begins to strike the large MONSTERS AT THE GATE building, destroying much of it and also other lightning bolts begin to destroy much of the city.

People can only die and run because of the great death scenario that Mistyk has been unleashing, without any mercy or consideration. Men, women and children alike are disintegrated.

"It's always good to leave a good impression, and I hope they appreciate this too."

Mistyk looks up at the sky amidst the enormous chaos of electricity and destruction. A confident expression looks up at the sky, specifically from the hole she emerged from.

Elsewhere, away from the destruction of a psychopathic electricity monster. The last 3 members of the monster hunting agency are now in an old "office" which happens to be a rather luxurious cantina, with a wide variety of different drinks and craft beers, a place where probably, high class people would come to discuss business or celebrate a weekend.

"this place needs to be remodeled"- Ras observes his old business with a certain nostalgic expression.

Without looking much further, Ras deposits all the papers and other folders of his former employees on the bar table, hoping for better luck.

Next to his boss, Shade holds a frightened Kat who keeps fidgeting like a child throwing a tantrum.

"I still don't understand how we hired you, what a lousy job you do!"- Shade throws Kat to the ground doing some sort of wrestling technique, leaving the fire mage sore from the blow.

"Oh, really, I didn't see you putting up much resistance, you decided to run away like a coward, why didn't you use that rare ability of yours to create portals or wormholes to send her somewhere else, maybe to the moon!"- Kat stands up protesting against Shade, despite having knowledge about her superior's ability, Kat really only wants to excuse herself, the truth was different, no one had the slightest chance against such a being.

"Shade starts to release another dark sphere to get rid of Kat, but the fire mage doesn't stay behind and starts to release fire from her hands.

"no fighting between employees"- Ras keeps both women from killing each other despite not taking his eyes off the files and also making calls.

"you heard him, no fighting!"- Kat quickly walks away from the scene of the conflict, and with great relief that she is not fighting Shade (SAVE ME!!!).

Both employees begin to go back to their business, Shade watches Kat with annoyance as she continues to help her boss recruit former hunters, but on the other hand, Kat accesses the bar counter and begins to pour herself a beer from one of the kegs.

"Mr. Ras, excuse me for not facing that monster, but the truth I must admit that I am no match and I also noticed something very strange about that woman named Mistyk"- a worried face appears on Shade, who had analyzed something else during the monster's attack on the city.

"other than wearing only a cloth covering her body"- Kat interrupts while drinking beer and Shade tries to have a serious conversation with her boss, ignoring the comment.

"what I mean is, really that woman can be categorized as a 'monster'?, she had an exaggeratedly enormous power, even it doesn't compare in the slightest with the ones we've killed before"- Shade puts a rather alarming point on the table.

Previously, in the times when there were more hunters and more monsters, the power levels were nothing to worry about. A single hunter could take care of several monsters at once, without even getting tired, this efficient pace of work led the city of KILLPOP to a fairly lasting peace, despite still experiencing various paranormal phenomena, monsters became a thing of the past and simply, very few were sighted.

But the thunder woman named Mistyk, was completely from another League, her mere presence already emanated an indescribable power, to the point that Shade, despite being a quite efficient hunter, felt chills and gratitude for not facing such a threat.

"oh, you heard too, rule number one for you hunters, never go up against prey you know will kick your ass"- Kat tries to pretend she was already aware of Mistyk's power, but it's something Shade doesn't buy into.

"Stupid brat..."- Shade just grumbles at Kat's cheap "advice".

"I'm glad to have that opinion from a professional, I hadn't really noticed that, other than being someone somewhat nice, even though she was in a clear state of inebriation" Ras analyzes along with Shade that point. A worrying point, "but Miss Mistyk, said she wanted to face a hunter, well we will bring her one that will meet her expectations, and also, if she will be able to meet the expectations".

With a confident face, Ras reveals the dossier of who is undoubtedly one of his best hunters, if not the best.

"eh, Noruh?"- Kat exclaims aloud in surprise, "but she is retired".

"true, but, I'll make her an offer she can't refuse"- Ras is confident as he reveals his best card to deal with the thunder monster, Mistyk. A true monster slayer and an extremely powerful woman. 

"Although we will have to go look for her first, I had forgotten that Villa Swamp does not have telephone lines, and also Miss Noruh does not know much about technology, there are no cell phones in the swamp."

When looking for a way to find his star hunter, the only option left is to go directly to look for the woman called Noruh, a mission that Ras decides to give to his only employee.

“Kat, if I remember correctly, you have a very good relationship with Miss Noruh, if I'm not mistaken.”

Kat tries to evade the responsibility that comes with that question, only in the eyes of her boss can she detect where the matter is going.

“Well, it's true, we always get along very well and several times he invites me to his swamp, but I don't like very humid environments” - Kat begins to appear very nervous while explaining her relationship with her partner, but all this is for no reason. go look for her directly. But the opposite effect results.

“It's perfect!” Ras gets up from the table suddenly, “I knew I could leave this in your hands, Miss Kat!”

“uhhh…”- Kat shows a quite shocked expression, just by the fact of having to go to a place which is not at all to her liking, for a woman who prefers luxuries and comforts, a swamp is the complete opposite, “And how about Shade?”

“Forget it, that place must be full of slugs and other slimy bears” – Shade quickly disengages from that suggestion.

(shit...)-Kat complains in her mind.

"It's decided! I'll book the flight right now and your stay near the Villa Swamp." Ras begins to move all of his contacts to send Kat to find and rehire Noruh, but the magician doesn't seem to like all of this. fire.

“Wait! Mr. Ras! We could actually find another way to contact her or maybe call Eddie! I have no problem going to Vegas! But I didn't send myself to a wet swamp!” – Kat protests and tries to give other solutions, but his boss Ras has already made a decision.

“don't worry, you will travel first class and you will be in a luxury hotel called 'koko bongo' that has excellent ratings from tourists and in addition to being in front of a tropical beach, you will be there with all expenses paid, I think you can take this as a little vacation while she contacts Noruh and we try to stop all this chaos” - after giving all the benefits that Kat will have in her search, the failed magician's expression changes.

“AND WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? WHAT TIME DOES MY FLIGHT LEAVE?” Kat changes her clothes for a summer walk and has all her suitcases ready.

“I really think it would be good to go see my old friend Noruh!”

Kat and Ras look in high spirits as they begin their search for the first hunter to be recruited. The Swamp Magician. Noruh.
