sadly in our community [the furfag one] people tend to buy art 24-7 and so it really has no excitement or gratitude or anything tied to it. It's the next 700$ fix that gives them a boner for about 15 seconds and then it's dumped in a folder and forgotten

this matters because this is why I /do not do gift art/ for any of my furry friends. I'll do art trades, sure. but I never do gifts. It's not worth MY time to give someone my hard work and have them say "thanks adi" and that be that.

So a few days ago a friend of mine who is NORMAL and not a furfag, in a game I started playing was having a bad time. I wanted to be a good friend and I also think his bug character is hella cute (don't ask man, I just think it's cute) so I spent the day running around in the game with him killing things and taking his mind off of local-girl-dramz. I ended up telling him I was an artist [testing the normie waters] and said I could draw something for him, so I sent a little sketch over of his bug and he loved it. Soooo I painted the rest of the picture in about 30-40  mins, lmao. it's amazing what someone giving positive reinforcement can do for my ability to put out art.

so I gave him the painting and it's been 2 days and he still is talking about it. but I said "this is just a thank you from me for helping me learn this game" and he didn't want anything in return except a friend to hang out with, so we effectively leeched each others happiness and it felt very nice.

Contrary to what some may think, I do art not just for myself and my tastes, but for the /feedback/ and not getting any or getting mediocre feedback makes me uninterested in doing business with someone again, or giving them free art that I worked hard on.

It feels so wonderful to do something and have it be appreciated for once. so thanks to the friend I made in this game who will never see this patreon post. you're awesome
