this is a very, VERY rough idea on how to draw drake heads by following nature, aka tracing photos. I originally based the loose anatomy of a drakes skull on the skull of utahraptor, and komodo dragons.


komodo dragons compared to lace monitors, are THICK BODIED, wider heads, all around much more bulky. Lace monitors grow large, but keep a streamlined head shape and sharp angles. aberrant drakes show these traits, tho a bit more exaggerated. I doodled this, like my past "guide" to show people that you can indeed draw a boxy brick shaped head, even if you have to resort to using RL photos. learning is part of artistic progress afterall.
