homework from one of my design studio classes (well, this is a piece of the homework)

the task was 3 things, I won't bother uploading all of it.

task 1: assemble a reference guide sheet of several interesting animals

task 2: draw those  you assembled several times from the photo

task 3: mash them together into a unique design

I have to say task 3 was my favorite, and I created a beast of burden (as what we were assigned to do specifically) that was a hunter mount. Most classmates went the route of large heavy cows/rhino/beetles/turtles but me and a couple others went with a lighterweight design. My final design was based off of glorious emu & cassowary feet, secretary birds (obviously) moray eels, with a dash of therazinosaurus. I wanted to incorporate sea turtle (leatherback) in there somehow but didn't get around to it, and the task was to keep it relatively simple so I did that.

it's easy to see that my 2min doodle of the sec bird 'take 1' was pretty bad, as I am unfamiliar with birbs/beaks, but take 2 was much better. despite that I nixed the bird face from my final product, I didn't want a giant chicken, I felt that was boring.

maybe you'll see my sprinter critter sometime soon!
