Everything looked good at first. Her efforts had paid off. Her best friend for her entire life, Tachibana Hibiki stood tall once again, wearing her magical armor known as Symphogear as she faced those evil robots once again. And even though she didn’t know too much about what either side was fighting for, all she needed to know was that Hibiki was definitely on the good side.

There were two opponents Hibiki was facing, one robot in red named Micha and one in blue they named Galie. They call themself Autoscorer and are part of the evil team Hibiki need to defend them from. And she really is one of the only ones that has a chance, because after all, she is a master of the gear she is wearing.

“I am sorry for doubting you, Miku. I really needed that push to set me straight.” Hibiki announced, letting Miku Kohinata down from her princess carry, before turning to face her opponents. “I’ll make this quick. And then we go out to eat together, k?”

“You got it.” Miku answered, happy to see the smile getting back to Hibiki’s face, before Hibiki stormed off, her music echoing through the entire area.

Gallie, the blue one, was instantly punched out of the sky with a single strike, smashing into the ground at speeds Miku couldn’t even follow. Micha looked surprised, but didn’t have time to react because within the next blink of an eye, Hibiki was already right in Micha’s face. The next moment the fists were connected with each other, which caused a huge shockwave to blast through the streets.

“She still has it…” Miku let out relieved, trying her best to follow the battle from her position, though with how those two were moving, it was getting harder and harder to tell what they were doing. Micha was shooting out crystals of some kind and Hibiki was punching stuff, but just seeing her back in action made Miku’s heart calm down again.

It might still be an uncertain situation with a battle still going on, but with Hibiki going ham it’s only a matter of time before…

Cling

“Eh?”

Suddenly, there was a pain in Miku’s chest, becoming bigger and harder to ignore by the second. She didn’t even know what happened. In her shock, she took a look and… saw a medium sized sharp crystal sticking out just from between her chest… impaling her.

Now that she thought about it a little bit more, not hiding while two superhuman forces duke it out might have been a mistake. That cristal definitely didn’t look like it was being aimed at her, so this might just have been bad luck.Yeah… bad luck…

Miku could feel her legs giving in as she began to feel lightheaded, almost as if all her blood was leaving her, which also meant that not long after she collapsed onto her knees. It really seemed like she wasn’t long for this world, which was even sadder now that she finally managed what she really needed to do for Hibiki and their friends…

…but Miku couldn’t afford to die. Not here, not now. Who would Hibiki come home to if she wasn’t anymore? She needed to stay alive… for Hibiki’s sake. There must be a way too…

It was then that Miku noticed a weird feeling in her chest. One that was starting to spread besides the waves upon waves of pain. And when she looked down again, she saw something odd. Or rather, the lack of something which made the thing odd.

Blood. There was simply no blood anywhere at her wound, neither on the crystal nor on herself. And also the crystal looked like it was deeper inside her body than before and on top of that the area of her chest around the cristal looked… metallic?

Miku’ curiosity overtook her and she moved her hand to touch the crystal in her chest, which might have been her second mistake as at her touch the crystal immediately started to glow and dug itself even deeper into Miku’s body, giving her one final pain spike for it just stopped, barely peeking out from her chest anymore, yet still glowing.

That's when she started to feel something in her body starting to move, feeling like it was to the tune of the red crystals glow. It pulsed and sent waves through her body, feeling almost like a second heartbeat that quickly synchronized with her own heart.

At first, it was hard for Miku to tell what was happening, since most of the weirdness seemed to happen inside of her body, yet one look down at the crystal gave her a pretty good picture of what was happening. Because where at first only the wound had turned to metal, now it was spreading up and down her body, replacing her soft skin with that weird metal through and through.

It spread fast and relentless, having given her entire stomach a silver sheen in only a few seconds. And it was the same thing going up, turning her shoulders to metal and then spreading further down her arms. For a brief moment Miku couldn’t move her arms at all, but the metal around her shoulders quickly melted and replaced itself with metal bearings so that she could move her joints again, yet with a weird sensation accompanying every movement.

It spread over her elbows and gave them another bearing and even her fingers, which also were quickly encoated with that mixture of solid metal and movable joints. Her legs also were not spared, as at the same time the coating was going down over her butt to her lower body, inserting movable bearings and joints wherever they were needed and otherwise just turning everything into the same even silvery sheen the rest of her body held.

And it wasn’t only her skin getting replaced by machinery. It was everything underneath as well. By then, only her head was left organic, but even that was quickly to change. The metal crept up her neck which gave Miku a very hard headache from one second to the next.

She could feel her feelings, thoughts and ambitions all digitalize at an incredible rate, as all of the things in her head were translated into binary and she somehow gained the ability to read that. To be honest, she felt refreshed as her head never felt so clear and organized in her entire life.

And with her eyes turning into sensors of the highest caliber, her ears turning the most adaptable receivers and her hair and head turning fully synthetic, she knew that she, Miku, Kohinata, was no longer human.

Though what exactly she was, Miku had no idea. Which is when a brilliant idea came to her mind. “Execute Quick Body Scan!” She said, and felt her internal sensors activate all at once. And soon, they found a quite interesting result.

“A fragment of Gungnir was found alongside the Alchemical supercharged crystal in my body, and their opposite reaction most likely caused this to happen to my body.” Miku stated matter of factly, somehow impressed how cool that sounded. Yet something else concerning came up in her scan, which she definitely needed to address.

“Both fragments are vying for control, Gungnir wanting me to serve it and its master, while the crystal wants me to follow Lady Carol. But I want neither of that!” Miku states as her system and body starts heating up again.

“I just want to be with Hibiki, follow her, carry her like she carries me! And if this new body of mine can grant it to me, then I want to fight by her side as well! Do you hear me, you stupid mechanical body?!?” She cried, pounding her metal hand against her chest.

Surprisingly at that, her body started to shift again. Both fragments in her body ceased their struggle for power, as Miku, the administrator of her own mind suppressed and conquered them both. So now, they move to execute the wish of their host, which once again kinda caught Miku by surprise.

Miku could see and feel her midsection elongating and growing as more and more machinery grew from her body in ways that she just couldn’t explain. Both of her legs grew a lot thicker and morphed into a much more inhuman form, bending in weird ways and even looking like her feet were fusing into single big hoovelike appendages.

At the same time from much further up of her long midsection, two additional limbs sprouted and grew fast to rival the feet she had already, those two already exiting her body looking very much like mechanical versions of horse legs. And then her body bent, crashing to the ground and landing on all four of her hooves, while her upper body still stood upright.

And while Miku, even with her digitized head couldn’t quite figure out what just happened and why, she still recognized the bigger problem at hand. “Hibiki! I need to help her!”

Almost as if to react to her cry, her body grew another plate of armor all around her hefty metallic horse like body, then expanded two hatches to reveal large, almost ethereal looking wings from her horse half, which also both came equipped with two very large and powerful looking jet turbines.

Finally both of her hands morphed into large, solid claws that looked like they could even tear steel apart, which, considering Miku’s mechanical strength, was very much a possibility. But that was something she better find out in person, as a certain battle and her best friend were waiting for her.

“Hold on, Hibiki. I am coming to save you!” Miku shouted, starting all of her engines at the same time as she started sprinting forward. And with her mechanical legs, she was already gaining much more speed than she ever did as a human and then she just jumped, firing her engines at full power and flying into the sky, ready to fight with her best friend by her side.

…and probably giving her a heart attack the moment she first sees her…

Combining ancient technology and alchemy might lead to unexpected outcomes. Like Mecha centaurs. Because Miku honestly needed a more rideable form anyway.
