“Oof!” Hiros made the least graceful landing he could make on the grassy hill. “Uh… Nagisa, could you be more thoughtful in transporting me next time!?” Hiros shouted. He looked around the area but Nagisa was nowhere in sight and neither was the portal Hiros just popped out of. “...I’ll just have to complain about it later…” Hiros dusted his clothes off and began to walk up the hill he landed on.

On top of the hill was a large house that appeared regular and normal on the surface, but Hiros knew who lived there and what happened there underground- literally. After a short hike, he reached the top of the hill and knocked on the front door.
“Coming!” A voice called out from inside. A few seconds later, Hiros could hear someone rushing down a flight of stairs and to the front door. He took a step back as the door swung open revealing none-other but Nick.

“Hiros!” Nick had a large smile on his face. The two clasped each other’s hand in a firm handshake before then pulling each other for a brief hug. “Glad you could make it! How’s life going?” Nick asked.
“Well… it could be better I suppose,” Hiros shrugged. The two friends walked inside going down the rather spacious hallway to the living room. Hiros noticed that there several game consoles and game boxes already setted up on the table in front of the couch.

“Let me get you a drink before we start our marathon~” Nick walked over to the kitchen which was only a room over to the living room. There weren’t any walls dividing the two rooms, so Hiros watched Nick collecting two pitchers as he observed what games Nick had laid out for them to play.

“How’s Azalea doing?” Hiros asked. “Is she here today?”
“Nah, she’s out right now, I doubt she’ll be back in time before you have to leave,” Nick answered. Hiros felt a bit perplexed by this. On one hand, getting transformed by Azalea always led to some… interesting results to say the least and of course Hiros was usually down for a change in sex- and in species. At the same time, it had been a while since he and Nick could just hang out as bros, so a non-magical hangout was just as appealing.

“Alright, my guy! Drinks and snacks are here, the box of games is ready. Name your console and reach in the box to start us off~” Nick laughed as he brought back all the refreshments and way too much snacks, yet at the same time it just felt somewhat fitting. Hiros didn’t even think much about it, took a sip from his glass and leaned over the box of games his friend had so graciously provided.

“I remember having played a Kirby game with you last time, so I am sure this one will also be a ton of fun, right? Mr game collector~?” Hiros asked, handing the cartridge over to Nick, who just giggled. “Alright~ That's a fun one~ A great place to start as well. Hehehe~”

Though just when Nick was about to enter the cartridge into the console, Hiros spied something from the corner of his eyes, making him look back into the box a bit closer this time. “Oh? What is this?”

And indeed he found something he didn’t know he needed.

“‘Monster Queen Quest’? Why have I never heard of this one before? I was sure to have already scoured the internet for all sorts of monster girl games, yet somehow I have never seen this before.” Hiros let out, making Nick stop and turn around, looking slightly confused.

“What? I don’t remember owning a game like that. I would have already played it…” Nick started, before looking at the cover, then facepalming. “No… I do remember buying that. It was in a mass buy where everything was 85% off if you bought at least ten games. Wanna guess how many I bought.”

“More than ten.”

“Dude if that sale stacked, I would have had to pay pennies for that spree.”

“Gotcha. Wanna give it a go?”

“Sure, it’s not like I have played it before. So I am going into this just as blind as you. Hehe~”

Nick placed the Kirby game back into its box and traded Hiros for the monster girl game. It took a few tries before his Switch would finally register the game at the system’s menu. Neither of them knew exactly what they were in for though assuming the game was possibly single player, Hiros placed his controller next to him to watch Nick play.

Oddly, the game skipped any mentions of developers and other teams that worked on the game and went straight to the title screen. The title screen was rather bland and not what Nick and Hiros imagined it would be. It appeared as a generic blue cybernetwork area with code strings littered throughout and the odd visual glitch here and there.
“I don’t think this game is finished,” Nick laughed.
“Well, as long as we get some monster girl goodness, I’ll be happy,” Hiros said back.

Nick pressed the start button. A new menu appeared, one asking for the number of players.
“Oh, I guess this is a multiplayer game,” Hiros grabbed his controller and turned its power on.
“Maybe it’s a dungeon crawler or some sort of action RPG?” Nick assumed. After selecting the number of players, the entire background shifted showing off a beautiful anime picture of lush plains with rolling green hills. A centaur stood at the center of the screen, wearing very lose clothing and wielding a bow.

“Please select your species,” a voice suddenly said. There wasn’t any voice acting up to this point so it caught Nick and Hiros by surprise. Nick began to scroll through the menu to see what other species were available. Each one had a different backdrop with its associated monster girl standing proud at the center of the screen. Nick didn’t browse through the whole menu, stopping short at the harpy selection. It featured a very cute and surprisingly modest dressed harpy standing on top of a mountain.
“Oh, you know what I’m picking!” Without examining the stats of traits of harpies, Nick selected the harpy.

“Oh, how predictable,” Hiros chuckled.
“What, harpies are awesome!” After making his selection, a small submenu appeared asking for what gender Nick wanted his character to be. Without any hesitation, he picked the female option.
“Player 2, please make your selection now,” the game’s narrator then said.
“Wait, that’s it? I can’t change anything else about my character? That sucks…” Nick grumbled.

“Okay, guess it's my turn. Let’s see… I think I’ll go with…”

“Harpy!” Nick threw in, making Hiros roll his eyes while a smile crept on his face.

“No, I am not picking a harpy. That is more your thing than mine. It also just has the worst stats out of all of them. So I would think to take…”

“But think about the ability to fly! No other species on the roster can do that!” Nick Interjected once again.

“You really just want me to play as a harpy, don’t you?”

“Yes.”

“Alright then. If you say so…”

With that, Hiros’ fate was decided for him, even if that fate just meant that both of the boys were playing as some birdbrains for the time being. Not the worst fate to be honest, but hey.

“Your selection has been made, welcome to the world of Monster Queen Quest!” The narrator said. The screen zoomed in on the generic harpy Hiros selected and then the screen went white. It stayed that way and never seemed to change. After about 15 seconds, the friends figured that something bugged out and the game crashed.

“Well, that sucks,” Nick muttered. He got up from his seat and walked over to his Switch to reset the system. Though as he got up to his console, something unexpected happened.

“Gah!” Nick yelped as a hand shot out of the screen and grabbed him. The arm was blue and seemed to be made out of digital squares, it was possible to decipher who or what this arm belonged to. Hiros’ eyes widened as he saw this and rushed over to his friend.
“Hold on Nick!” Hiros grabbed Nick’s free arm and began to pull him in the opposite direction, but it was futile.

“Aaah!”
“Waaah!” The arm was simply too powerful for the two and before they knew it, it had dragged them inside of the TV….

It was dark for a good while. Nick couldn’t remember much after he got dragged into that screen by that weird game, but at least he could feel him gaining consciousness again. Slowly but surely opening his eyes to be greeted with… a blue sky, of all things. That's when he noticed that he was lying on his back, so he maybe should not have come as that unexpected.

What did come as unexpected was where he was lying on, because it certainly wasn’t ground of any kind. Honestly it felt more like… tiles? Was he on a roof?

“Huh? What the…?”

“Yap, it’s pretty much what you are thinking.” A female voice called out to him, stumping Nick for a moment. He turned around and saw… a beautiful white-pink feathered harpy with an honestly quite cute face.

“Who are…?” Nick wanted to ask, but harpy just waved her wing, then flicked him against his forehead with her wing.

“Spare me that redundant question. You know exactly who I am.”

“Are you… Hera?” Nick asked hesitantly, since that was pretty much the only thing that came to his mind. Though after closer inspection, her short brown hair and white overly short shirt were very much a dead giveaway.

“In the flesh.” She replied, then crossed her wings and looked around to the side. “Are you curious to know where we are at? Because I actually had time to check it out while you were happily snoring.”

“Why are you a harpy and I am not?” Nick asked, sounding somewhat defeated while looking at his clearly not winged human hands. “This isn’t fair.”

“Of course that is what's on your mind after we get magically transported into a game world. What else could one be thinking about?” Hera laughed, rolling her eyes then giggling audibly.

“I got my priorities straight.”

“I have noticed.”

“...”

“...”
“...so why am I not a harpy?”

Hera just let her head hanging at this point. “I’ll tell you what. I’ll tell you how I became a harpy after you hear me out about what I just found out. Deal?”

“Harpy deal!”

“Alright, then listen closely.” Hera said, coming a bit closer to Nick as she rubbed her face with her wing, which somehow looked a bit funny. “I have found out that we are definitely in a game now, and that our first mission is to slay some sort of dragon. We are in a party already and we are currently on top of the guild headquarters of this city.”

“...”

“Yes, you heard me right. We are on the guild headquarter roof.”

“Why would our spawn point be on top of the guild?”

“Ask the game developer, not me. I am just here to give you the facts.”

“Gotcha…”

Nick crawled gently to the edge of the roof, taking in the sight of a generic looking medieval village below. Peeking over the edge, he knew that it was too high of a fall to… fall from.
“You think you can lower me down from here?” Nick asked Hera. He looked over back at his friend who now had her wings spread out and an emotionless look on her face.
“Hera?” Nick waved his hand in front of her face, hoping to get some sort of reaction.

“Ah, it appears I made some sort of mistake.” Nick let out a weak yelp as he heard a familiar voice speak from behind him. It was the announcer from before but their voice had a lot more emotion in it and had small inflections that a machine couldn’t possibly make.
“I was supposed to wipe her memory and give you an ideal companion, but that appears to not have worked as I had hoped,” Nick turned to face the voice. The announcer was none other than the strange person made out of blue cybercubes. Their shape was unmistakable though.

“Azalea!? Is that you?” Nick gasped.
“No, I’m an A.I created by Azalea. You can just refer to me as Aza if you wish,” The announcer now identified as Aza said. “Azalea saw this game as an ideal modding platform to create her own little world from. It’s still in early development so bugs like these are to be expected.”
“Ah, so that’s why I’m not a harpy?” Nick asked.
“That’s part of it. I was going to transform you but I haven’t changed multiple individuals before, if I had changed you both at once you might have suffered some brain damage.”

“Oh… Yeah, that would suck,” Nick scratched his head. He looked back at Hera and waved at her face again. “Did you freeze her?”
“I paused the game, all entities part of this world are currently frozen in animation. We are not paused as we are technically not part of this world,” Aza explained.
“Wow…” Nick felt tempted to touch Hera’s boobs, maybe a playful slap on the ass but his better side won over his perverted one.

“Well, Hera is transformed, would it be safe to transform me now?” Nick asked.
“No, it wouldn’t. It might still result in some brain damage and memory loss,” Aza said.
“Well… Could you backup my memories or something?”
“...You seem really adamant to be transformed.”
“Of course! I wouldn’t pass up any chance to be a harpy!”
“You organics are weird…” Aza paused to think. “I can create a backup of your memory, any unwanted damage could be undone by it.”

Nick’s eyes widened and a smirk formed on his face.
“Alright, then let’s do it!” He exclaimed.
“Hmm, hopefully no unwanted damage occurs… I’ll check in on your both in five in game days to see how things are going- I still need to finish developing the dragon’s castle,” Aza said. She held out her hands, a small orb forming in her palms. Nick reached out for it and then everything went white….

“So, what happened is that a- Nick?” Hera looked around. Nick was literally standing in front of her just a second ago and he then vanished into thin air. “Nick, where did you go?” Above her, the harpy could hear the very faint sound of flapping.
“Yeeeeaaahhh!” A voice called out from above. Hera looked up and gasped as she saw a harpy with long brown hair, a black top, and odd looking shorts nosediving at her.
“Waah!” Hera dodged out of the way, but the fellow harpy never collided with the spot she was standing at.

The harpy boomerang up and fluttered above the roof near Hera.
“Nicole is a great flyer! Nicole always have fun!” The harpy cheerfully said. Hera had her suspicions going off of Nicole’s appearance, but confirmation of her name was enough for Hera to know who this was.
“I see you met Aza too,” Hera chuckled. Nicole landed on the roof and tilted her head.
“Aza?” She crept up to Hera, the claw on her left wing meeting her own lips. “Nicole no hear of Aza. Who Aza?”

“Uh, the A.I that runs this game and the one that transformed us. Why are you acting so weird?” Hera asked.
“Nick? Nicole no Nick! Nicole is Nicole!” The brown harpy tried to act angry but her cheerful nature made her pouting too cute.
“Did- oh you’re not roleplaying. You’re actually that stupid now…” Hera facewinged herself.

“Nicole is no ditz! Nicole is flappy harpy!” Nicole fluttered above the roof and giggled. “Hera and Nicole will beat dragon! Beat dragon, go now!” Hera found Nicole’s basic language oddly charming.
“Yeah, we will do that, but first-”
“Defeat dragon, weeee!”
“Wait, Nicole!”

Hera began to fly, chasing her idiot friend as she flew to the mountains. Despite now venturing off to face some dragon without… any equipment, Hera couldn’t stop the birdbrain before her. Besides, Nicole’s cheerfulness was contiguous to the point that Hera couldn’t help but laugh along with her. Though she was concerned with the adventure they were now on, and if they had a chance to return to Earth…

“Hey Nick, I’m home!” Azalea wandered into the living after a long day transforming an entire anime convention into monster girls. She expected to find Nick and Hiros in the living room playing video games. She was… incorrect. As she walked into the living room, she found the TV on, displaying a scene of two familiar looking harpies. The brown one was talking nonsense to a very annoyed looking dragon girl who didn’t seem angry or aggressive, but boy did she look like she wanted to be deaf right then. The pink harpy was covering her head with her own wings, but she appeared to be covering her face from either laughter or maybe embarrassment.

“Oh… they found my game…” Azalea sighed. She picked up the controller and was prepared to activate the developer console, but stopped herself as she listened to the ramblings of the brown harpy. “Hmmm, maybe another few minutes~” She giggled.

Just a friendly gaming session of some friends, what could possibly go… Oh. One of the guys is Nick. Okay, guess some Harpies are bound to appear somewhere.

The pic was drawn by the amazing Tsukishima~ Many hearts to them~
