At one point in the original game, Long Strongman tried to wedge himself into the burglar's mouth and then explode, so he'd choke to death on the corn starch. The GM acted before letting this happen, but point being the mentality was a lot more vindictive and destructive during the real event. Pretending not to be interested in the knives wouldn't have been necessary to get them out.
