Dang funny, as we've come to expect from you. Though, frankly, I'm kinda amazed how much they did get away with in a show that airs on the Disney network. As for 'The Call of Cthulhu', I believe that the boat-ramming—which didn't so much _defeat_ Cthulhu as momentarily distract it, allowing the last two survivors to escape, only for them to die in insanity and at the hand of cultists soon after—was supposed to illustrate the feebleness and impotence of humans struggling against a vastly greater power. It wasn't so much "Yay! Boat beats Cthulhu!" as "Oh God, we can't stop it. The best we can hope for is to scamper away like bugs and hope that the capricious alignment of the stars sends R'lyeh back to the deeps and Cthulhu back to sleep... until the next time they happen to be right." Not all of Lovecraft's horror holds up in the modern day. A lot of it seems based on the assumption that the mere _thought_ of a large and ancient universe—one that isn't centered on and tailor-made for _us_, God's favoured and only children—should disturb anyone so profoundly that they'll naturally accept the plausibility of characters going insane from the revelation that we're not alone in the universe.
