Personal Time With Greg: Law, Tradition, and Marriage

After the latest MAS episode, I had someone ask why Fluttershy's parents would be hard on homosexuality. I've had this same thing asked about Applejack, and why I depict her getting upset about Big Mac's common fan showing as a "colt cuddler". Often they ask, does that mean Celestia's religion teaches them to think like that?

I always hated The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 episode for the lesson that they're trying to teach. I'm all for family honor, but when they need several friends to match quantity while the brothers do both quality & quantity with only 2 ponies, it really makes the Apples look like asses. They couldn't set up some kind of trade off or partnership, nope, just traditional means. Doesn't matter that the cider they produce is on equal footing, nope, we'll just work our family & friends to the bone if need be before using your easy machine that'll do more work in less time & effort. In the long run, Flim & Flam might be detrimental with over farming & such, but back then it was really selfish for Grannysmith to completely throw out the notion of using automation. & like you said, what happens when she goes? What if Big Mac doesn't have kids, what if AJ doesn't? Since Applebloom got her mark, she might not be part of the farm when she gets older. It's really hard to hold onto tradition if there's no one there. Sorry for rambling o(>3<)o
