We're actually not going to see this poor golem again for a little while, and this is the end of this "chapter"! So as a quick little bio for the guy, he's been guarding this sword for literally longer than mankind has been able to remember, and it's pretty dang routine for him by now. He only has to sleep once per year by basking in the moonlight for a little while, and he can do it whenever he likes, so it's difficult to predict when that narrow little window would arise.

He's been doing such a good job for such a long time, and then, completely without warning and at just the right period of vulnerability, Putterdale and Gyfir wander off with the golem's life purpose and vanish into a little puff of lightning.
