DnD breeds certain habits and mentalities in most of its players. One of which is the idea that every encounter is going to be an appropriate "challenge rating" the party can handle and expect to win. This becomes so ingrained that sometimes, if you take a player out of a safe system like that and throw around more roleplaying heavy creatures they can't expect to handle, they'll try to fight that dangerous creature anyway.

In fact, just a week ago, the player who created Gyfir tried to provoke some horrific undead werewolf beasty in the middle of the jungle in a setting where the undead DO NOT DIE. His reason was that he can never remember how serious undead are supposed to be in some games, since DnD uses them as chaff underlings so often.
