Personal Time With Greg: Patreon's Petty Fees

Here's a link to our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/DawnSomewhere Recently, Patreon announced a change to the way they'd be processing fees. They decided to switch the whole system over to charging every pledge as pledges are made, such that patrons are hit with dozens of petty little charges. The whole thing has caused quite a stir, and there are a lot of theories as to why it's happening and why Patreon refuses to back down even as some of its biggest users lose hundreds of supporters. I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to handle, but at the least I can provide my own rambling commentary!

I wanted to thank you for the message you sent out explaining the true ramifications of Patreon's new payment scheme! I'd just glossed over the email Patreon sent out without thinking too much about it, but your message pointed out exactly how much it deducted from my pledges. I was able to readjust my pledges to a more appropriate amount, thankfully, giving more per video but for fewer videos a month. Thanks for the advice!

Seems Patreon might've reneged its position on the fees. Far out :)

The stats were pretty clear that the fee change had killed their growth, likely the investors had started to notice. I'll re-pledge once I get clearification if Patreon won't be recharging for the same month to re-pledge like they usually do. I'm still not sure if the creator gets the extra money from that double charge, which makes me cautious.
