Buffy's 'mom' behavior reminds me of the time shortly after the big Joyce episode, when Buffy wanted Giles to be the parent. To which Giles replied "I may be the grown-up, but you're her family." It looks like Buffy has gotten more comfortable in her new role as mother-figure.
