We met our 1000 patrons goal!

We're so excited to have reached the incredible milestone of 1000 Patrons! Thank you so much for supporting us, whether you be patrons new or old.  We're excited to be able to make maps for so many people and their games.

So, our 1000 Patron goal was dubbed the Kingdom Project and the name has kind of just stuck. We're introducing that project today and don't worry - even if we dip below 1000 patrons next week (there's always a drop around payment day), we've lit the blue touch paper and the project launches regardless.

Details

The Kingdom Project is essentially a way to produce a set of maps linked to each other via a shared regional map.  At the end of 6 months you'll have a bunch of maps, a regional map showing where they are, and GM resources for each location.

So, this is how it will work:

- For the next 5 months, your Map of the Month, two of its variants and the Third Map will be a part of the project. (The 6th month will be a little different.)

- The third variant and the Alt-Map won't be locations on the regional map, so will always give you something a bit different too.

- Our supplement and GM resources page will provide you will helpful game information on the locations.

Map of the Month

The MotM will be a location on the regional map that we've posted below. Two of our monthly variants of that map will be a night setting and a winter setting, so you can use the locations at different times.

The Third Map

The Third map will be a location in the regional setting suggested by patrons or based on a vote etc. On the map below these undecided locations are marked with question marks.

Alts, Megadungeons

The Alt-Map, one of the variants, and the Megadungeon maps will remain independent of the regional map.

Of course really there's nothing stopping you using any of the maps independently of the regional map - it's just a fun and useful way to bring them together. You'll still be getting the same number of maps.

The 6th Month

In the 6th month, inspired by a recent suggestion, we'll be making a multi-storey boss location for the setting. That will incorporate the MotM, Alt, Variants and Third Map slots (there will be night and winter variants available though).

The Regional Map

So, this is small image showing The Old Kingdom, our setting for the 6 month project which is more properly titled 'Adventures in the Old Kingdom'.

A small, walled city sits on the edge of a stretch of wilderness that was once a great kingdom, but now is filled with ruins.

The 6 circles show the 6 MotM locations, and the ? indicate your Third Map locations.  For the first month, we've picked the third map location - an extra settlement.  As we go through the project the map will be updated with names, locations and anything else discovered in the course of the project.

By the end of it all you'll have a regional map, with battlemaps and resources for each of the locations marked - perfect for a campaign or sandbox game.

We're really excited to share with you all of the locations we've come up with for this project.  It's going to produce a really useful and fun set of maps!  We'll be sharing the opening location with you on April 7th (sneaky hint: it's got two storeys).

Let us know if you've got any questions.
