September's Map of the Month Preview - Spitfalls Eyrie (Patreon)

Time for a preview!

If you remember, last month we had a birthday sweepstake, and one of the prizes was to suggest the September MotM. The winner of that was Matt Guss, and he got in touch and let us have his idea. He suggested a few, and we decided to go with this:

He asked for an island at the top of a waterfall, with trees holding large nests and a mysterious ruin. We tweaked it a little and made it a dilapidated house, which could easily be a ruin. We then also went ahead and made an interior for the house, plus a cave below reached both by an entrance in the cliff face and a set of stairs.

We're imagining that the house belongs to a wizard who has tamed, and rides, the hippogriffs that nest in the trees here. So, the cave below is fitted out as a small stables.

We've also planned out the three variants of this set (we've got a story in mind for the supplement, so they actually fit together along a time line). The variants will be autumn, a fey magic circle, and a blighted diseased river.

Alt Version

We'd like to hear your ideas for September's Alt-Version. How would you reimagine this map? (We'll be changing the interior and cave too if necessary). Remember, the alt-version is a 'reskin' of the map, not an entirely new one, and it should be a fantasy idea.
