A little while back we asked for ideas around the theme of 'Pirates' for the Third Map, and one of the suggestions that made it to the poll (but didn't win against very strong competition) was albedoequals' suggestion of two ships locked in battle. We really loved the idea, and it's certainly something very unique. So, whilst it didn't win the poll, we really wanted it to exist. So, here is Boarding Action!

We thought it would be a good idea to make the subjects of the battle ships that you can also buy as non-damaged ships, so that you can be sailing along, and then end up in a life-or-death fight. Bearing in mind some players use gunpowder in their settings, and some don't, we wanted to make sure that the ships were either both ballistae armed or cannon armed. Looking at our current offerings, we realised that we needed another ballistae-armed ship, and so the Lord Mermington was born.  

We thought a good start would be to have the Lord Mermington against the Danse Macabre; both ballistae armed ships. We certainly have plans to do a similar encounter between two cannon-armed ships, so that's something for everyone.
