Yes, that is winners, plural.

A quick shout out first to everyone who entered our competition to help design one of our Christmas Countdown maps.  As ever, you all came up with an amazing set of ideas.

We had a long discussion and battled the ideas against each other to narrow down what was a long list.  That left us with 5 finalists.  We couldn't decide between our two favourites, so we've bumped one of our existing Christmas ideas off the list and now will make two winning ideas.

But enough of the explanations, you want to know who has won!

Results

  • Winner 1 - Will Martin
  • Idea - "Winter graveyard with snow-capped tombstones and mausoleums".  We're really excited about this one and are going to make it part of our Discover range, so there will be some cold crypts to explore too.  We just think a gothicy, snowy cemetery will look amazing.

  • Winner 2 - Paul Lawrence
  • Idea - A frost fair on a frozen river, an embankment running alongside and a bridge under which you'll find "dodgy vendors".  There'll be all sorts of fun and games and we'll make a bridge overlay too.  The words 'frost fair' was basically an instant win as far as Sarah was concerned.

  • Runner-up - Andrew Jarzyniecki
  • Idea - Now, we stated in our hints that one of our planned maps is a settlement.  It is in fact a Christmas village (think candy canes etc), which a number of you suggested.  However, when we saw Andrew's idea for a Krampus-style village, we thought it would be fun to 'horror-up' our happy little village and have a double-release of the villages.  As Andrew was the first to suggest this style of map we wanted to make him a runner-up.

Special mentions (nearly won!):

  • Lloyd Ritchey - a sunken, sealed tower in a frozen lake with tunnels running off
  • Thistlethorn - a frozen battlefield with a warren of trenches
  • Daniel McCarthy - a summer village abandoned after an area of it has been frost-blasted

Our runner-up and special mentions can all look forward to their prizes: we think they all deserve free copies of all of December's Christmas Countdown maps.

Winners: we'll be in contact soon to discuss ideas.

Everyone else: we'll keep you posted on the progress of these exciting maps!
