New here or thinking of becoming a patron?  That's great!  We'd be very pleased to have your support.   Here are some answers to questions you may have about our Patreon.

When do I get charged and get my rewards?

We send out the links for each month's reward bundle on the 5th of each month, after Patreon has charged all of our patrons at the beginning of the month.

If you have just signed up: welcome!  Our Patreon is 'charge upfront', so Patreon will take money from you today.  We will then send you the link for the current month's reward bundle within the next day.  After that Patreon will bill you on the 1st of each month along with everyone else as part of their regular cycle.

What rewards do I get for supporting you?

Currently, for just $5 a month support, patrons receive:

  • a Map of the Month (MotM) battlemap
  • 3 variants of the MotM
  • an alternate version of the MotM
  • an adventure supplement for the MotM
  • a Third Map, totally different
  • a level of a multi-level dungeon
  • a 1 page GM resource sheet for a recent Heroic Maps release

Added to this are occasional free tiles and discounts on many new maps.

Patrons who choose the $8 tier also receive an exclusive Sci-Fi themed map every month and a level of a Sci-Fi themed megamap.  This tier is also where any Sci-Fi bonus tiles and discounts will be posted.

Patrons who choose a 'with FoundryVTT' tier will also have access to Foundry versions of their maps.

How will I receive my rewards?

On Rewards day (or when you join), you'll be sent a set of codes for the maps on DrivethruRPG. Clicking these codes will add the maps to your DTRPG account for free. You are then free to download the maps whenever you choose - they'll stay in your account at DTRPG forever. We just ask that you click the code and claim the maps within 2 months of receiving the code.

Supplements and FoundryVTT files will be available on Patreon, as is the VTT Vault.

Do I have access to your whole back catalogue?

We have a VTT Vault containing gridless VTT-sized jpgs. These are 72dpi, 140px per square and less than 10mb.

In this format, you can access all the maps we've made on Patreon for your tier.

There is no back catalogue of pdf or 300dpi maps.

Have a look at all of our Patreon maps here.

Where is the VTT Vault?

Here!

What is the 'Fantasy & Sci-Fi' tier?

Some of our patrons were really keen for some of our MotMs/Alts to be Sci-Fi themed.

Some of our patrons never use Sci-Fi maps and so didn't want these to show up in rewards.

We decided to create a new tier so that we could give Sci-Fi maps as rewards without alienating patrons who don't play Sci-Fi.  Because they don't want to be alienated... because they're not into aliens...

Patrons at this $8 tier get everything in the $5 rewards bundle, plus an exclusive Sci-Fi map every month (size: 20x20 or bigger).  We'll also post any Sci-Fi bonus tiles and Drivethru discounts on Sci-Fi products at this tier.

Is there a Sci-Fi only tier?

No, we decided against offering that because when we ran the numbers it didn't feel financially viable for us.

We also feel too many reward tiers leads to confusion.

Can I suggest a map?

Every month patrons get to suggest ideas for an alternate version of the Map of the Month, then vote on a winning idea.  Patrons also make suggestions for the Third Map and we choose a winner from those ideas.

We're also really pleased to hear ideas in our community posts section if you have a burning map idea you want to tell us about.

Who are you guys?

We are Joe and Sarah Bilton and we've been making RPG maps professionally since 2013.  Since 2018, thanks to the support of our amazing patrons, Joe has been able to work full-time on maps.  We live in the UK and are inspired by all the great places we visit here as well as lots of SFF films, books etc.  We love playing RPGs and have several regular groups that we play in.

Do you have any other maps outside of Patreon?

We have over 870 map products available at DrivethruRPG, and we add new ones each month.

Can I ask you a question?

Of course!  Just message us on here or email us on heroicmaps@gmail.com
