We need a Patreon Exclusive Game. What scene is KL’s thumbnail from? I say when he lost his eye. I look forward to watching this evening to see if I’m right. 😊

Curaitis

Hey Kai, not really, just relaxing with with my dogs and probably some work for the business. Thanks for your reaction. wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend.

kaiielle

LOL we could just play that game with every thumbnail! I would love seeing guesses.

I’m going to the blink-182 concert tomorrow night here in LA! BBQ w/ my dad on Sunday but first…THOR RAGNAROK!!!

Steve Mercier

Gonna eat dinner while I watch this...'cause that's what heroes do.

I always find it interesting that, as far as I understand it, for the timeline laid out in this movie to make sense, Valkyrie (Scrapper-142) must be much older than Thor, which is not how the movie makes it feel at all imo. Valkyrie is an adult in the flashbacks with the other Valkyries, but Hela also clearly wasn't yet fully properly banished at the time, so Thor can't have been very old yet otherwise surely he would've known that she existed. Also Jeff Goldblum is great in this movie.

kaiielle

Yeah the timeline IS a bit confusing on this one. But it's all good. I just assume that nobody on Asgard ages fast, LOL.

Thank you so much for your reactions as always. Unfortunately for you, the Guardians movies were received quite well especially since they were our first foray into outer space stuff. I'm at least glad though, through a lot of eye-roll moments, you still found some fun stuff in this, which I was worried about. I avoid trailers as much as possible so really happy Hulk wasn't spoiled for you. Unrelated but I wish there was a way for disney plus to give you some frickin commission for Marvel and Star wars. Again just really appreciate revisiting these movies and experiencing star wars with you.

kaiielle

Yeah based on how much people liked the Guardians movies, I can tell that we're probably entering a period where that style is included a little bit more often, but that's fine. Yes, Hulk was not spoiled for me at all. I can't remember what movie poster I had previously seen for Ragnarok, but I obviously hadn't remembered seeing the Hulk in whatever I looked at. Oh don't worry about the commission HAH I don't think they would ever do that. The most I could hope for is early access screening and being able to record reactions early so I could drop them the day the film releases. Some larger reactors have been able to do that, which is so fun. Thank you for watching!

This is one of my favourite Marvel movies from the visuals to the soundtrack, setting and tone Taika Waititi did an amazing job. Oddly has a very 1980s feel to it mostly because off the amazing Synth soundtrack something I've listened to known stop. They used this song in the 2nd Trailer. Song Magic Sword In The Face Of Evil - https://youtu.be/LTYivLiavYI The Hulk part of this story is loosely based on the Planet Hulk comic where the Illuminati decide that Hulk was too dangerous to remain on Earth after Hulk lost control and attack Las Vegas. They tricked Hulk into entering orbit to destroy a rogue satellite, and then used a shuttle to jettison him from the solar system. They intended for him to land on a peaceful planet, but the shuttle passes through a wormhole on its way with his shuttle crash landing on the planet Sakaar the same Sakaar you see in Thor Ragnarok. On the tower that houses the Grandmaster’s treasured champion, the Hulk, you can see the heads of previously unseen Marvel characters like Ares, Man-Thing, and Beta-Ray Bill serve as stone busts carved on the tower. Beta-Ray Bill is a very cool character and so is Man-Thing and Ares. Skurge’s triumphant moment where he saves Asgard and redeems himself comes directly from the comics even depicting him dual weaponing M16 machine guns in the comic as well with the only difference being the setting and story. I was never a big fan of the first two Thor films but this one was a nice surprise pulling heavily from the more cosmic Thor comics and just embracing the over the top wackiness that is the early Thor comics. Thor Ragnarok is in my Top 10 MCU films so it's always a fun watch.

kaiielle

Thanks for all the info! Makes sense that this movie would be loved by a lot of comic fans.

Sweet Darling, thanks for such a quick MCU followup.

yeah commision is wishful thinking although i can't think i'm the only one actively subbed to disney for you and a few others, wish there was a code. Maybe when you catch up i don't think its unreasonable to assume you'll get some early vids, i know blind wave got some stuff early. Will shill for you though no worries lol. now to watch rebels.

Absher nailed it. I saw that look right when Hulk smashed his way into the arena.

And great reaction btw. I enjoy this movie enough. It does drive the characters forward and introduced more mythology to Thor’s world. I missed Jane and a throwaway statement that they broke up did not cut it for me, then or now. I think the first one is my favorite. I do think of you look back Thor is portrayed as that awkward fish out of water. He’s hit by a car twice in the first one, “son of coul” for our favorite agent, etc. but this movie really leans into it to a point that Thor is almost a caricature of who he in the first film. Not a bad movie, but this is only my second time watching it and I found. Shelf bored late in the first act. It doesn’t pick up until almost the hour mark.

Absher

That’s my favorite Thor movie for sure. Love the Hulk v Thor battle. Your reaction was the same I had when I saw the Hulk come out the first time! Haha that’s probably how I guessed the thumbnail. The colors really pop in this movie. Thanks for the reaction 🤘

On Father’s Day I will be cheating on Marvel by taking my husband & son to see The Flash ⚡️ and afterwards out for a nice seafood lunch. As far as Ragnarok goes, I enjoyed it and it is a fun rewatch. I would put this low top tier/high mid tier of MCU rankings for me. For the “solo” Thor movies, this would probably be my 2nd favorite after Dark World. The first Thor will always be special in that it was the first MCU movie I saw in theaters, but I love the relationship growth between Thor & Loki in Ragnarok. Plus, Loki in that black suit 🥵🥵🥵 It is a favorite wardrobe choice among the fandom. I love that Loki always wears a suit when trying to “blend in” on Earth, even though it just makes him stand out more because of how DANM HOT he looks in business attire. Not many look as good as Hiddleston does in a nice tailored three piece. RIP Odin, I really like the way they handled Odin’s passing. I have a theory that Odin stayed on Earth to give Loki a chance to rule Asgard and to let Thor live his life. With Heimdahl still on Asgard, Odin could have returned anytime and exposed Loki and track down Thor, but he chose to remain in exile to allow his son’s to enjoy their lives for as long as they could. Looking forward to the edit and review, Have a good rest of your weekend!

Fwiw, the Grandmaster *did* mention that time worked differently there - anywhere else, he’d be “a million years old.” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ “The only thing here that makes sense IS that nothing makes sense.” - Korg

That was fun, however I was surprised at you not liking "immigrant song" as a music choice for this movie. Since you obviously didn't watch the trailer, that song was featured in the first teaser trailer at Comic Con and it absolutely slayed! I saw a ton of reaction videos to the trailer and pretty much everyone was saying how perfect it was for this movie. I absolutely loved it in this movie and when it was used for the second time, after Thor made that huge realization of his powers, it was an all-time great MCU moment for me. I was also a huge fan of the humor here and it just fit with the tone of the movie... sure maybe a joke here and there probably went too far but the humor was another huge factor in why this movie is widely regarded as one of the best MCU movies.

kaiielle

The lyrics of the song are a great fit, so I understand *why* it was picked. Sometimes I just struggle with enjoying "mainstream" songs when they are used in fighting scenes. I think it's clear by now that I have a very strong preference for cinematic and orchestral scores.
