I'm always a fan of movies that go back to the Golden Era of film in their direction feeling like a mix of old meets modern like Tim Burton's Batman 89 for example. Mummy feels like a classic pulp magazines brought to life and 40s and 50s serials so it very much still holds up to this day same goes with the Indiana Jones movies as well.

Great one, lot of fun, great setting (love ancient Egypt) and the cast was good as well. Just a fun adventure Movie from a time where Movies were still great. Thanks for the reaction.

Love this movie! Happy that you enjoyed it as well. It is definitely a fun ride. It is funny that you said the Mummy reminded you of the Terminator, then in the next scene they mention how the Mummy is not of this world. That he will never eat, never sleep, never stop. This is similar to what Reese tells Sarah about the Terminator, it can’t be reasoned with,it can’t be bargained with, it doesn’t feel pity or remorse, and it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead. I never noticed that before. Great observation and comparison! I always forget that Brendan Fraser is a big dude. When you mentioned his hands being big it caught my attention. The internet has his height between 6’2 1/2” & 6’3!

Enjoyed your reaction. One of my favorite movies and the sequel is a fun adventure too. Some don't like it, but I think it was well done and a consistent story.

I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction! I'd be interested in watching the sequel eventually.

I would say I think it's best to try and keep your expectations neutral for the sequel if you do decide to watch it.

The grasshopper-like bugs when Evelyn first reads from the Book of the Dead are locusts, the creatures forming one of the deadly plagues in the Bible. The stuff at the end isn't stuff *they* took, it's stuff that Beni carted out before his untimely demise. They don't even know it's there yet! Rachel Weisz's last name is pronounced "Veiss." Also, I think the part where Evie says "Hello?" and you say "Hello" back, which made me laugh, might be a fun little Reel, as would your little dance when Rick and Evie kiss at the end.

Though it uses Imhotep, same as the 1932 MUMMY with Boris Karloff, the ‘99 MUMMY has a lot more in common with 1940’s THE MUMMY’S HAND, the first in the Kharis series, which is very much a pulpy, comedic action/adventure rather than straight horror. No one ever mentions that…🤷‍♂️
